We visited this place in Ironbridge hoping for a pleasant meal (Sunday roasts), but left with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and polite, but they seemed quite absent-minded and distracted. When placing our order (for three people), we requested an additional side option around £5 per person which was listed on the menu, though not described in much detail. We just wanted something extra to round out the meal for all of us. However, we only received a small salad. When we asked about the missing items, it turned out the waiter hadn’t placed that part of the order at all. Eventually, we were brought a portion of chips, salad, and potato wedges but only for one person instead of three. When we followed up again, the waiter insisted we hadn’t ordered them in the first place. We wouldn’t have minded paying extra if it had simply been missed mistakes happen but everything took so long, and the way it was handled left a poor impression. Since we were nearly done eating by that point, we just asked them not to bring anything else. The place wasn’t particularly busy, so it felt like the staff were just a bit absent-minded. As for the food, it was below average. Some parts were better than others. The roast vegetables (leek and sautéed cabbage, I believe) and the potatoes were quite tasty, while the meat (both pork and beef) was just not so great. The wedges were crispy and tasty. The salad was overly salty, but still decent. Unfortunately, the chips had a strange, freezer-like taste a definite letdown. Overall, the mains were underwhelming. Considering the price, the food didn’t quite live up to expectations you can easily find better value elsewhere. That said, the setting and atmosphere were lovely. The garden area is especially nice, and it’s a pleasant spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Despite the confusion, the staff remained kind and welcoming throughout. In summary: a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink, but not somewhere I’d recommend for a proper meal. I might come back for a beer, but for dinner, I’d look elsewhere.

I booked this charming old authentic hotel-pub with a few rooms for my husband’s birthday and had mentioned in advance that a small gesture like maybe a card to mark the occasion would be appreciated. I was told something might be arranged, but in the end, nothing was done — a small disappointment, though not enough to spoil the stay. Our room was very clean and recently renovated, with a spacious bathroom. However, although I’d booked a yard-facing room to avoid noise, it still turned out to be quite loud. The hotel faces both the River Severn and a busy road, and at 2 a.m. we could even hear cars racing — not exactly relaxing! If you’re sensitive to noise, this may not be the ideal choice. The listing mentions parking, but in reality there is none. The full English breakfast was generous in portion, but fairly standard. There were no hot alternatives, just a selection of cereals with milk and yogurt. Overall, service was good, and with just a few tweaks this could have been an even more special experience.

Staying over night in Ironbridge at The Best Western and went for an evening meal here. Both had the Spiced Hummus starters. Very tasty. Could have been a bit more flat bread with it. For mains I have the sea bass and Louise had the beer battered Fish and chips. Both meals were very tasty. I had to help Louise with her chips. Not a problem for me. To finish off we both had a coffee each. Wow. I've drank some good coffees but this was, top draw. As I'm not drinking at the moment I had 2 x lime and lemonade and Louise had a large coke and treated herself to a Piña colada. It looked like an excellent beer/cider/lager selection at the bar and a quality wine menu. The service at the bar and table was excellent 👍🏻. The bill with service charge was just over £70 ok may sound a lot but if you can't treat yourself once in a while, when can you, plus it was our 19th wedding anniversary on Tuesday and Louise's birthday on Wednesday. I can highly recommend it.

Had mixed experience here. Given 5 starts despite it wasn't great experience, however the outcome was worth the 5 stars . 2 adults 2 dogs. Chose this place as its dog friendly and ideal location for a pleasant walk/rest/food. Greeted on arrival and given instructions regards covid etc. We ordered drinks and food at the bar and we chose to sit/dine outside. They had a large party dining inside and we felt our puppies might be a nuisance. We were informed they had ran out of cups and spoons so would it be OK if served in paper cup and used a straw to stir it, not ideal, but agreed, however the pot washer came to the rescue and arrived with clean cups. We then sat outside a waiter then bought out complimentary bread and butter, but that was it, no plate or cutlery, so we went inside to ask for them. Then our main meals arrived, the portions I thought were from the children's menu, I had pork that was advertised as pork with crackling, apple sauce, roast potatoes and veg, 1 small slice of pork, the crackling was the size of my small finger nail, the veg was cauli cheese, which was one floret with no cheese, a table spoon of mashed swede and a few shreds of cabbage, one small potato that was cut into 4, all served on a plate the Size of a planet covered in gravy that had that lumpy microwaved look around the edges, oh and no apple sauce, the only thing I could do was look at my companion and laugh, her roast beef wasn't much different in size and appearance. When the waitress asked did we need anything else at this point we asked for the missing apple sauce and horseradish and possibly another side portion of vegetables. The food was nice, nothing spectacular, a standard Sunday dinner, but for the Size of the portions and at £30 I really expected more. Once we finished our meals we then were left sat with plates etc on our table for close to 20 mins, we had ordered puddings at the same time as our meal so really no need to be kept waiting for table to be cleared and desserts served, when the waitress finally arrived we cancelled the deserts expressed our concerns and asked to speak to the manager. Having explained the whole shambles of our visit, he could not have been any more understanding, was extremely apologetic, and agreed due to the extremely large party being catered for inside that standards had slacked, and it wasn't the normal at their establishment. The incident was mutually rectified. Would I eat here again?? Probably not, purely on price/portion size/quality of food. However you can not question the managers professional approach to customer...

Booked a table for 13.00 and was told that we were booked in for 13.15 I showed them the confirmation email which stated 13.00 and was still argued about from the staff, so not a great start seen as though it was very quiet and our table was ready anyway. The staff were more interested in standing in the corner chatting rather than attending to customers. We were left to wait for 20 minutes before someone finally came and took our order, at this point a couple that came in after us had their order taken way before us. If we didn't already have a drink we would have left. A bottle of water should be given to the tables ordering food so when I asked for water I was given tap water in a glass. The very small slice of 'crispy' pork belly was very fatty and the tiny bit of meat that was on it was chewy, the vegetables were very crunchy they tasted raw. Roast potatoes were more boiled than roasted, the 3 tiny snap peas were raw, very watery gravy which came out on the plate in a small cup. Yorkshire pudding and the 1 roasted carrot were nice, although we were told to order a side of yorkshire puddings as they didnt come with the pork, I pointed out that the menu says all roasts come with yorkshire puds. We ordered a side of cauliflower cheese, which was crunchy cauliflowers covered by what i presume to be packet cheese sauce which was a puddle in the bottom of the bowl. We refused to pay the 10% service charge which is automatically added to the bill, and the girl who took our payment was clearly put out by this. I'm more that happy to.pay for a good service. Unfortunately we were very disappointed from start to finish, we went up the road to a lovely cafe to have a coffee and desert. A table of 6 and another table of 2 were also very unhappy with the...
