Devonshire Bakery — Restaurant in England

Excessive prices. I don't mind paying a bit extra for quality but £15 for a ham sandwich and a coffee in a small shop in Runcorn not a tourist attraction, I actually querried which I wouldn't ordinarily do, they said there was added charge on top because I sat in. Sandwich was plain no trimmings ordinary sliced bread nothing thick or special about it, ironically there was a Costa next door and 2 cheap bakeries opposite, it's a shame as I prefer to support small businesses but I felt ripped off. Not a great experience today. Visited around 1320 on a Saturday afternoon and was told "We don't have much left" even thou they don't close for another hour and half. Wasn't made to feel welcome, more of an inconvenience. Ordered a toastie and it was served minus the salad and coleslaw advertised on the menu. When I queried this when I was paying I was told, thought you just wanted a toastie and you should have said. Maybe if they had made me feel welcome I would have asked. Not sure I will...

No wifi or even decent signal - I came in here to grab a coffee and catch up on emails instead of going to Costa. Pretty frustrating. coffee quite expensive for what it is, but cakes are fantastic and worth every penny and calorie, and similar price to Costa. It is a bit cramped, and seriously, do you need that many cushions?? Some of them were a bit grubby and I really didn't want to touch them before...
