Tucked away from the bustling main streets, this pub delivers everything you’d hope for in a back street boozer: a warm, no-frills atmosphere, excellent pints, and genuine community pub. It has a dartboard, dominoes and lots of board games! The beer selection is top-notch, often featuring local ales and a well-poured Guinness. What truly sets it apart is the clientele: a mix of friendly locals and curious wanderers, all enjoying the unpretentious vibe. The staff are welcoming and know their regulars by name, making it feel like you’ve walked into an old friend’s house. Bonus points as there’s an open fire or a jukebox in the corner. Perfect for those seeking a proper pub experience.

We traveled around the world just to find a proper pub and boy did we ever!! We spent many a day/night sitting around with Kev & Angie. There is nothing like the Dog & Pheasant in Michigan. It’s one of the last proper pubs with outstanding management that is active in raising money for local charities. Games are plenty, music is available and darts & dominoes are a weekly event. This is the best pub in Shrewsbury, and I wager it rivals any pub in the UK.

I've been coming to Shrewsbury for awhile now and this was the first time I had decided to pop into dog and pheasant, damn why didn't I do it sooner a superb local pub set in an ideal position after a walk down the river Severn. The beer was superb, and the staff and locals were very welcoming. It had a very nice atmosphere with it being dog friendly. I will certainly make it a stop the next time I'm back.

Been going to this pub ever since moving to castle fields 6 years ago, seems to change management fairly regularly, I only hope the latest ones dont last too long! I had a pint of sunbeam - usually my favourite - tasted foul, I asked to change it to which the reply was ''it's a brand new barrel, must have been something you ate'' strangely my first pint of hobgoblin gold was fine though. I tried to get through the pint but it was really awful so ended up buying another pint of gold, whilst doing this I suggested again that he might want to check you sunbeam himself as it definitely wasnt right, to which the answer was ''they've been drinking it in the bar all day with no complaints'' which, a close observer will notice contradicts his first response. I've worked in pubs and catering on and off for 14 years, if someone complains you swap their pint, end of. Terrible customer service. I wont be going back til the management...

One of the last great remaining proper pubs in town. Hidden away in a row of terraced houses, you could easily never know it was there. The hosts and staff are the friendliest and welcoming around, the fellow drinkers are friendly too.

This is a drinkers pub, although they are planning a food menu in a couple of years 😂. They do have a great selection of bar snacks though.

Plenty of table top games to keep you occupied, darts and dominoes too. Juke box in the lounge and fires to keep you warm in the winter.

You may even find the days vegetable haul available from from some of the locals, or some tasty jams.

If your near here, go spend some time and have a drink. You’ll...
