Contrary to online information the cafe shuts at 17.00 on Sunday not 19.00. I arrived around 16.40 and bought a large size coffee for just under £5.00 and sat down at one of the tables with my laptop. At just before 17.00 we got a warning that we had to leave. I asked if I could at least finish my drink before but I was told I had to leave and could go to the waiting room. I said I had a lot of luggage and I bike but they insisted. I really don't know any other cafe that starts ejecting people before closing time and insists they leave whatever their position.. they were still clearing up .. why was it necessary. Plus a rather belligerent attitude to why I hadn't expected them to shut as times were on the door (there was quite a small sign in a nearby window not the door which would be better) Also rather belligerent when I asked why they didn't warn people that they wouldn't have long to drink their drink if they wanted to stay in... Fairly inevitably as I unlocked my bike with a couple of bags in my hands and the large coffee half full I ended up spilling it ... They need to amend their online times and advise it is an exceptionally hard close.. but above all they need to amend their attitudes towards their customers and not treat them like unwelcome...
Read morehad an awful experience in this branch of Starbucks this weekend. It’s a shame because my drink was nice but the way the manager treated some of the customers around me really put me off ever returning. I witnessed her go over to two separate people and ask them to move unless they were going to buy a drink in an a sharp tone. The one was a gentleman sat with two people who both had drinks and he obliged which I thought was polite considering her rude manner. The other was a man sat with his daughter. The daughter went to put his cup in the bin as he had finished and in the mean time, the awful manager marched over to him and said he must buy a drink or move. When he tried to tell her he had just had a drink, she picked up the daughter’s cup and accused him of lying as the name on the cup was a female name??? Quite rightly he argued that was his daughter’s cup and he just finished his. He then got told by the manager that he was raising his voice and she won’t tolerate being spoken to that way. Maybe if she stopped wrongly throwing around accusations and kicking people out of the shop for no reason, he wouldn’t have needed to. I just wanted a nice coffee before my train ride but I wouldn’t touch...
Read moreMy father and myself entered and sat down while waiting for my mother to return from the bathroom to order a drinks. I was told quite sharply I could not sit until I ordered, to which I replied we were just waiting for someone, but it didn’t matter to her we had to order right there and then. When my mother arrived we decided not to stay due to this.
I would also like to add, it may be worth double checking Starbucks policy as it was updated in the last few years to state that it was no longer a requirement for people wanting to sit inside to make ANY purchase. I could understand why staff may still want me to move on if they were struggling for tables but when there’s 4 people in there and 10 free tables, there was no need (and we would have bought something if she’d...
