I have wanted to try dough and oil for a while. I had planned this week to get takeaway whilst I waited for my son to finish his activity in the town. So at around 5:30 on Friday I went in with my daughter and ordered threw pizza's. The blonde lady with a fringe checked with the chefs if they could do three pizza's which they said they could. I paid, left my name and was told to return in 30 minutes. So I returned after having collected my son, arriving at 6:10 (so having given an extra 10 minutes to prepare my food). I went inside and was ignored by numerous staff. The man with dark wavy hair, styled like curtains told me "I'll get to you in a bit" in a somewhat blunt manner. I overlooked this, it was busy, I appreciate people can be short when stressed. After 5 minutes of waiting he asked me if he could help. I explained I had placed an order for 3 pizza's and stated my name. He then began looking on various screens. Then he walked behind the counter and started talking to the chefs. It was obvious that my order hadn't been placed, but no-one explained this to me. I waited, still nothing. The man with curtains then began dealing with some issue on the phone. Each time he caught my eye he just gave an irritated look. I mean how dare I wait for the pizza's I have ordered and paid for. Then after about 10 minutes he approached me and told me "that'll be £39.95" I explained I'd already paid, he just walked off. I then after another few moments of being ignored and no explanation said I would need to go and move my car. I went and moved my car, returned to the store with two children in tow. This time the man with dark curtained hair ignored me. The lady who originally served me then asked what I needed. Again I explained that I had ordered pizza at 5:30 (by this point we were at around 6:25), she then asks my name, darts off and produces 3 pizza's. She then walks off. There was no apology or anything, or explanation. Absolutely horrendous service - treated as though I was nothing, expected to pay twice and given no explanation. Just left waiting with two children who at the point of leaving were very upset. The pizza was okay, but I won't return, I've had better service in fast food restaurants

What a find. A real treat for Shrewsbury. I spend my life searching for places like this. Specialises in bagels and pizza, with beer and coffee thrown in. Location: From the outside you may feel it's still being built. But once inside the interior suits the food and the style of restaurant. The music was subtle and chilled, I was pleasantly warm and never felt rushed. Food: I went for the rocky bagel. Beautifully cooked containing sausage patty, avocado, pea shoots, bacon jam and egg. Not greasy and well portioned. Coffee: I always drink a flat white when I want to compare. It allows me to assess how much care and attention to detail they put into their coffee. On this occasion it's up there with the best of them. Very smooth texture and perfect size. Not your run of the mill coffee beans either. Price: £9 which is exceptional value for the quality I received. I need to return to try the rest of the menu!! Pizza: I returned for a pizza and ordered the special which consisted of ham, cos lettuce, medley of tomatoes and porcini cheese. The sauce was from the garlic based marinara pizza and tasted unbelievable. The base was superb, a slight crisp on the bottom, and a lovely texture overall, not soggy like some pizzas ive tried. I've been to pizza restaurants in Italy where people queue waiting for it to open....in my opinion this tasted better. Overall the service was again excellent, the flat white was great and the music was perfect....(think Guardians of the galaxy soundtrack). Very enjoyable evening.

We came to Shrewsbury and couldn’t find anywhere to eat as it was so busy everywhere but there was the most amazing smell coming from what appeared to be dough and oil so we stopped there but were told by a lovely man that they weren’t open but instead they had an event on at the castle where there was music a bar and you could order the pizza to there. We spent a fantastic afternoon in the sun eating and drinking and just generally relaxing on the deckchairs. The pizza was easily the best we’ve had and my gluten intolerant husband and daughter shared a deli platter, I wish I’d taken photos as it was absolutely spectacular, they loved it as there isn’t often choices for them when pizza is involved. I know the event is on every Friday and Saturday until Saturday 15th May so get down there if you get a chance! We were only visiting Shrewsbury for our anniversary but if we lived here we would be regular dough and oil customers without question, we will be back next year, hope you put on another event but if not we’ll be straight to the restaurant.

I walked past this place and thought i should give it a go. When i walked inside there was no staff member visable mainly due to them not wearing a official uniform so i walk past like three of them without realizing and stood next to a counter when a staff member came up to me handed me a menu and told me to "sit where i like" the inside of this place seemed dark, cramped and loud so i sat outside. Outside the table was more second then renewed is that what they call any way it the lady that served me was nice polite the wire spool table it self i was scared to touch in fear of getting a splinters when the lady came back out to me she said that there was a 40 minute wait for food and me being to fat and lazy agreed and waited. When the food arrived it did look decent but it was lukewarm at best but at this point i was hungry and disappointed in both my self and the establishment for letting this happen. After i went to pay for my meal even though i could of walked off as no one really kept a check i was met by a realy weird system were at the side of the counter there was a machine and card reader and a metal money draw under the counter top and a staff member aksed me what i had and was tempted to say just water but i am a honest man and told them my meal snd paid the whole system seemed a but exposed for my likeing. Oh welm i wont be going agian and i would say if you wanted to go save you money and go...
