Tonight's waiter was in a Bad Mood. Let's call my waiter "Ted".
I smiled at 'Ted' and asked for a table for one, being a single male traveller Ted did not smile back but duly showed me to a table.
All I wanted was a simple, meat-free meal. Ted made this much more difficult than it should have been.
I asked for the cold meze starter. Ok, that was fine. And a glass of wine, why not, I'm on holiday!
But that wasn't enough.
"Only starter?" he asked.
I had not realised that the meze was a starter.
"You are vegetarian?" he asked. I nodded and he showed me the main vegetarian options. I didn't want a whole dish, I wanted a selection.
"Can't I have the meze as a main?" I asked. He didn't smile and say "Yes, of course". Instead he raised his eyebrows and got on with the difficult job of bringing a hungry solo vegetarian a nice plate of food.
And, as far as the food goes, I have nothing but praise for the quality, the flavours, and the presentation of this delicious Turkish cuisine Perhaps if I had gone there with my wife his attitude might have been less frosty.
As it was, Ted took the shine off the experience. Next time I visit Morpeth, with or without my wife I'll be sure to give this place a wide berth....
Read moreThis is a second review. My first one is below,
We went here again midweek and mid afternoon, around 3.30pm ish. The food was amazingly good and the staff just as friendly. The restaurant and toilets are spotlessly clean.
The food is all made on site by their chef. It's not mass-produced, generic rubbish but authentic handmade dishes. The portion sizes are just right, not too big or small. The prices were great too. We had the afternoon special of three courses with sparkling water and it was under £20 per person. We were the only people in for most of our meal.
Here's my first review from a few moths ago:
My wife and I went here three weeks ago.
I've been meaning to leave a review, but time has been against me. We arrived early on a Saturday evening, soon after opening so before the big Saturday night rush. I can highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were friendly, joyful, entertaining, and helpful. The food was delicious and served quickly.
It makes a refreshing change to eat somewhere the staff are genuinely interested in serving and not just working robotically to a script.

Read moreWe love eating here on the rare occasion we are in town. The owners are so warm and welcoming, the restaurant is beautifully clean and looks fabulous, and the food is absolutely perfect. Our most recent visit was yesterday, for lunch. We decided to have the lunchtime special which is 3 courses for £14.50. Our starters were baba ganoush and hummus with delicious, still-warm, grilled Turkish flat bread. Our main courses were the Ephesus koftes and the chicken shish, both arrived with amazing buttery rice, salad, and two sauces (yoghurt/mint and chill, which was amazing). Dessert was unbelievably yummy pistachio baclava. A lovely filling lunch for a great price. With drinks the bill for two was less than £40. We will definitely continue to visit when we are in Morpeth and I’m already looking forward to it! (Worth mentioning is that the restaurant is opposite a car park with free disc parking and several disabled spaces. So very easy to get to within less than a couple...
