Niko’s Greek Taberna — Restaurant in England

Our third visit here in recent weeks. The consistency of the food quality is immense. My wife had the Chicken Gyros, she normally has the Pork, but decided on a change. The chicken was both succulent and crispy, so full of flavour. Complemented with a small portion of chips. Didnt realise how they managed to make the humble chip so nice and flavoursome, but they have.

I had the Keflico for the second time, and it was amazing, just like the first one I had a few weeks ago. The lamb literally falls apart upon contact with your fork, and the flavours are off the scale.

We had a side order of garlic bread with cheese. Again, I dont how they did it, but yet again the flavours put your senses to good use.

We really can't rate this Taberna highly enough, we just wish we knew about it sooner, we've been missing out. Definitely going back. . . .

On a positive note the lamb I had was fantastic. But that's where the positivity ends........My wife had the Sakanaki starter which she has had many times before both in this country and in Greece but this was very disappointing. Was basically greasy Halloumi and my wife is convinced it was the grilling cheese that we buy from Costco. Service wise pretty poor as well, food was quick but once we had finished our meals and our plates were cleared we just sat.......and sat..... Expecting someone to come and offer us another drink or coffee but no one came so we upped and left after having to go to...

Fifteen of us celebrated my birthday here last night. Everyone loved the food. We had a lot of chicken and pork gyros; my Dad had the beef stew and my sister had the souvlaki. Even my brother-in-law was happy with his gyros platter (not always easy to please). It's a big table to accommodate, but I'm grateful the restaurant managed it; and they cut and served my birthday cake as though we were paying for it. And to the waitress who had to leave the premises to secure ketchup for one of my guests (who shall remain nameless...), thank you for going above and beyond. Great night, great...
