I’ve just returned from what should have been a nice relaxing weekend break but to be honest it was far from that. I originally booked the Premier Inn at Telford Central with the adjacent Beefeater restaurant for a relaxing post Christmas/Boxing Day break to unwind after a busy festive period but unfortunately due to both myself and my partner testing positive for Covid 19 on Christmas Eve our plans had to change and so did our booking which was re-scheduled for 29th January.
On arrival in the car park it seemed rather busy and the footbridge connecting the railway station to the town was packed with what can only be described as noisy hooligans. We checked in and all seemed fine and Gemma on reception advised we could upgrade our meal deal to include an evening meal as well as breakfast. I’d already paid for the breakfast when accommodation was booked. I paid an additional £30.98 for this and a table was booked for 7.15pm. We arrived promptly on time to be greeted by several security staff ( at a Beefeater ??) a bag search and once inside half the hooligans off the footbridge from earlier who had obviously had too much too drink and thought that they could sing. Not a great first impression. The staff appeared to be very rushed and did not fully explain what we could order from the menu but instead handed us a couple of additional cards and left us to figure it out. As we were in a Beefeater restaurant we thought we would both enjoy a steak so we ordered two sirloins. Within five minutes of placing our order we noticed we could upgrade to a three course meal for an additional £2 each so we thought we would ask if we could take advantage of this as we were both particularly hungry. The first waitress I asked said that’s only Monday to Friday which I thought was a bit odd so I asked a different waitress and she advised it was too late as the food order was already processed. I think it was more of a case of she couldn’t be bothered to go and check. As our food had still not arrived and we had finished our included drinks we opted for a bottle of house red. This arrived with two glasses and an apology from the waitress,” I’m sorry we have no more wine glasses”...she provided huge Gin glasses. Really ?? Whilst all this was going on the hooligans continued to sing and it was just not a nice atmosphere. Our food arrived and first impressions were its not great but by this time we were both very hungry. The rocket salad that accompanied the steak was not fresh, it was dry, curled up and had obviously been out for a while. The sirloin was disgusting to be honest, I’ll leave it at that. If you don’t believe me look at the attached photo’s. My partners was equally as bad. We left the restaurant still hungry. I went back to the hotel and ordered a take away meal to be delivered. I explained the bad experience to the receptionist Gemma and she was very helpful and did the best she could. She said she would refund the meal deal cost. The whole weekend was completely ruined and was certainly not the relaxing weekend I had wished for us both. If I could give a zero rating for the Telford Beefeater I...
Read moreAbsolutely awful, we ordered our main dishes ( smothered chicken melt £12.79) which should have had house slaw, when this arrived no slaw BUT what attempted to be called a salad consisting of a few pieces of shredded iceberg lettuce and 1 cherry tomato cut in half, more a garnish than a salad, the bacon on top of the chicken breast was dry, hard and possibly in our opinion was left over from this mornings breakfast service. Our second main ( chargrilled gammon steak £11.99 ) the only thing edible was the chips - peas were dry and hard, pineapple greasy and gammon itself was very tough and inedible. On making compliant to the first member of staff ( a young gent ) we were told no slaw available, and that the SALAD!!! was a suitable alternative, we did not agree and asked to speak to a manager. The manager had no interest in our compliant but offered us a second serving of SALAD!!! this was unacceptable. A refund was offered begrudgingly with no customer care at all. However our female waitress could not apologise more and was upset by our experience, make this lady the manager, she informed us that the house slaw had been taken off the menu for all dishes at the start of January, so why oh why do the staff not inform the customers of this menu change when ordering, poor management not keeping staff informed of changes. Beefeater Telford really need to buck up their ideas and serve quality pub food and treat their customers better. We had a 2 night stay at the premier inn next door and we will not be eating in the Beefeater Telford again on our second night. A truly horrible...
Read moreFriendly staff but not enough of them and food not as advertised on the menu. We arrived for a 4.45pm booking and we were seated promptly, drinks and food were taken in a good time. Our food came out without too much of a wait, the problem came with our 2 dishes of the full rack of ribs. We have had this before and it has been lovely but this time the ribs were tough and very spicy, not a BBQ glaze as advertised so my wife and son couldn’t eat them. When clearing our table the waitress did ask if we enjoyed our meals and we mentioned this to her, she did go and ask the chef who told her the dish had changed. She did say she would talk to the manager but we weren’t after money off, we just thought the dish should be advertised as a spicy kick as it wasn’t BBQ as advertised. Then unfortunately we ordered dessert, i say unfortunately because the restaurant was getting busier and there was not enough staff to deal with the tables that were coming in. We waited 30 mins for our desserts and then another 15 at least just to pay the bill. Fair play to the staff they were all running around serving but when a chef comes out to tell one of them that the ice cream is melting on the desserts then there is not enough of them. As I said earlier we have been here before and had a lovely meal, unfortunately after this experience we won’t be back...
