So, the bar is lovely, they allowed my dog which was great. We ordered some food and then from here it went down hill. They served the table next to us. Brought them the wrong food plus they thought the table next to us had ordered our food as well. We had to correct them. They then gave us our food but as we'd ordered a mixed grill as well as the table next to us, they'd given us their pepper corn sauce, we tried to tell the waitress we didn't order it and she said I'm pretty sure you've paid for it. So we kept it until we put two and two together and thought it could be the gentleman's next to us, which is was and he was happy we'd noticed as he was just not going to say anything. We mentioned it to the waitress who just shrugged it off. They then came out to ask if the table next to us were enjoying their food but just walked straight past us with no comment. Which is a shame as it would have given me a chance to tell them we weren't happy with the food. Unfortunately the sausages looked raw and the chicken didn't really resemble a chicken breast. I don't usually expect much from these chain pubs but I can say that was probably the worst meal I've had. The onion rings were soggy and egg undercooked. The Dog didn't mind eating some of the meat though! Just overall a poor experience. The highlight was the chef singing his heart out to rock in...
Read morePart of a chain, the pub had a good menu of traditional pub offerings. My wife and I had a special offer for burgers. They were tasty, came with fries (the best) in a tiny bucket and was served promptly. Cutlery was 'help yourself', and they were out of napkins so there was'blue roll' provided as a substitute, which while slightly disappointing was welcome, preferable to nothing and fairly ingenious.
We were served by two members of staff during the evening, one was lovely, welcoming, friendly, smiling, the other was a little bit curt, unhappy?, I wonder if they had had a bad day, was over-worked and under-paid or whatever.
The atmosphere was a little awkward as a neighbouring table had guests who were hard of hearing and talked rather loudly. The pub celebrates the author J K Rowling as they grew up in the town. It was quite dark inside, and on a sunny day, sitting next to a window my eyes found it difficult to adjust from bright sun to dark interior.
There was plenty of parking, outside seating, and the toilets were okay. There was pool available.
I would go again, the menu would suit my children and it was reasonably priced, even without the...

The Filth house!
Came here today and what a disgusting place! Not until I finished the majority of my food did I realise how dirty and run down this place was. Lights hanging out the ceiling, dirt all up the walls, carpet grippers showing , the ladies toilets are disgusting and you have the cheek to have a sign up saying about how you like to keep it to the highest possible standards.
When my sister's food came out we asked for the steak medium rare and it came out cremated, the quality of the food was very poor, the glass my sister drank from had lipstick and sludge on the side. Table 35 where we were sat you could of scraped the stickiness off the table and used it for wallpaper paste, cobwebs older than my grandparents and just overall vile!
The girl who served us at the bar had a face like the back end of a bus, rude and obnoxious.
Definitely wouldn't recommend this place to any one!
