We ordered 5 meals for myself and 4 sons . I paid cash for the five meals and four drinks to table 38.We were served and our server missed my meal. I had ordered buttermilk chicken strips and popcorn chicken and when I placed the order I was asked if I wanted that as a starter or main . I asked for a main . The order was repeated back to us and included all five meals . The manager Jack then deleivered 4 meals and returned to the kitchen . I waited believing Jack would return . He did not and Jack had not asked if our order was complete while at the table so I had to wait at the bar for a server to be available so I could query the order . I was then told it had been missed off the order and would be sorted . I asked if it had been made and the server said no so I asked if I could cancel as I did not want to eat after my sons but with them . I received a refund and asked to speak to the manager as I believed the issue could have been avoided if he had asked me when first serving my order if the order was complete or if we needed anything else . I could have pointed out the missing food . At the time of service Jack asked my sons if they wanted sauce and gave no other indication my food was not coming . When I spoke to Jack again he said he was sorry as the order had been placed incorrectly . Is asked if he was happy with the service I had been given and he asked what more I wanted him to do . I suggested he apologise for the poor service and understand that the issue could have been avoided and he again said I’ve refunded you what more can I do . Jack also suggested I was shouting at him . Which wasnt . Please check the cctv and table 38 order and service details and toll records . I am disgusted by the service and treatment . The food that was delivered was excellent however my meal with my four children spoiled by your service . (Jacks...
Read moreWe arrived at a busy time and weren’t sure whether to seat ourselves or wait to be directed. Unfortunately, the staff were too busy to acknowledge our arrival or provide any guidance. In fairness, there were simply too few staff on duty to manage the flow properly.
We decided to seat ourselves and ordered via the app, pleased to see a 10% discount on drinks for app orders. However, there was no option to enter the discount code provided, which was frustrating.
A few minutes later, a staff member informed us that the carvery had stopped serving at 4pm — something that wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu or the app. This left us confused as the app still allowed us to place a carvery order. When we asked for some time to decide on alternatives, I ended up having to go to the bar to place the order manually, which completely defeated the purpose of using the app. There was then some back-and-forth about refunding the original order before charging for the new meals, but thankfully the staff member had the good sense to open a tab to sort it out later.
When the food arrived, it was fine, but ultimately felt like a fallback choice rather than something we were genuinely looking forward to.
Overall, as this is a location I would need to travel to, I wouldn’t choose to return. The prices are steep (£6.75 for a pint), and while the staff did their best, the service suffered badly due to being...
Read moreOn Saturday the 16th eve of April in 2022, my wife and I visited this fine establishment. Having dined in South Durham for many a decade, I thought it only right to try the Fox Club, which has been recommended to Shirley and I on a great many occasions.
We were welcomed with a warm, sweet smile by a dashing young man. He promptly guided to our seats which were suitably located near the carving station.
The food was of a high quality and was served promptly. My surf and turf was cooked to perfection and I was very impressed when I requested some ketchup and the serving boy had it on hand in his pouch. A very efficient young man who is, I am sure, a valued member of team at the Fox Club.
After our main courses, we were both quite stuffed, but the sauce man was very complementative of the newly refurbished dessert menu. After a brief rest and a sip of a refreshing Gin and Elderflower Tonic, we decided to treat ourselves to a dessert after the sauce man’s high words of praise.
Shirley was blown away by the extensive selection of desserts that was available on our visit to the Fox Club. The newly added apple crumble, which the dashing young sauce man recommended really hit the spot and went down Shirley’s throat with delight.
If you are ever dining around Thinford, we both highly recommend this quality establishment.
Many thanks, we will return soon.
Regards, Zachary...
