Took my mum and partner here to get her out of the house. Farmhouse/industrial decor which I like but seating area not inviting (could do with a sweep also as there was food on the floor)
We had 2 spinach rolls, 2 festive cinnamon swirls, 2 coffees and 1 tea and cost around £25 so about standard for a coffee shop (similar prices to Costa). The tea was loose leaf which was lovely.
When we were there it wasn't busy however most of the 5 staff on shift were chatting amongst themselves and not attentive with customers/cleaning etc and none of them were wearing face coverings (they had been made mandatory again over a week previously) Service needs improvement. Put our pastries on plates but not given a tray or napkins or offered cutlery. Not told whether our drinks were to be collected or if they would bring them over. We went and sat at a table (plate in hand) and waited. The pastries were delicious. Mum loved her festive cinnamon roll. Our drinks were ready so mum went to collect, again, no tray was provided so that was a struggle for her. 1 member of staff did bring my tea over on a little tray though when they saw my 60year old mum having difficulty. I was the only one given milk and a spoon. My partner and mum were given nothing with their coffee nor asked if they'd like anything. When my mum went to the counter to ask for more spoons and where to get sugar a staff member pointed to an area behind a shelf unit that was not clear and had no signage so unless you know the cafe, you don't know where anything is.
Gail's has potential but the service provided by the staff...
Read moreAs per many of the other comments, I would suggest this is very much style/marketing hype over substance.
I have just spent around £34 on various items (which I think we can all agree is not cheap and is the premium end of the market in the context of baked products) so that I could try a broad spectrum of their offerings and overall I would say each one was either very average or poor.
Both the sandwich (Beef brisket) and the sausage roll were expensive, pretty tasteless, VERY greasy and overall disappointing. And the honey cake has the after taste of a grandparent's aging potpourri that has been sitting in their bathroom for twenty years, pretty horrible. Also to note, apart from the poor food, the staff all looked bored, unhappy and overall not very interested in their workmanship. They were more keen to just pick out your food and stuff it through the till. Actually an example of this poor service is adding different products to the same bag. Stuffing a blueberry muffin in the same bag as a cinnamon means I now cannot eat the muffin because I am allergic to cinnamon. Thank you for that (said with sarcasm!).
I don't normally write a review like this but I won't be going back, go to...
Read moreHaving been a loyal customer of the brand for the last three or four years at their various London stores and a regular purchaser of their scrumptious breads, I noticed today that the bread loaf prices have been increased substantially by stealth and I feel they are no longer value for money.
The thing that made the visit to Beaconsfield Gail’s a bit of a stressful experience was that the delivery of the food was very, very slow. I had only ordered a avocado bun (that was in the fridge) and my take away mocha 75% and it took 15 minutes for the servers to bring it.
I've been to several Gail's because I like their food. However at this particular branch staff weren’t so friendly or welcoming. You feel that you bother them with your purchase / visit. I would give 5 for food and 1 for service - so average is only 3, unfortunately.
EDIT: just reached back home to enjoy my extra hot Mocha and wow, shocked at how bad this tastes. Unfortunately, it’s being poured down the drain. What a shame and what a waste...
