Gilchrist's Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in England

It was a clean and tidy little premises in boroughbridge and staff seemed pleasant enough, however quite frankly the sign saying that no scottish bank notes accepted even though it is legal tender, and quite frankly the excuse about counterfeit is quite tenuous considering the fact that all money deposited is guaranteed with there bank, also the fact that all shops have the capability and capacity to scan all money to check if it's real.

Also lets be realistic the shop is next to a camp that for one houses soldiers and some are from Scotland and Ireland "by the way sign says money from Ulster not accepted either" and considering the fact that a regiment of over 700 soldiers are moving into the camp and a fair number are scottish and Irish in my opinion this attitude reeks of...

I go here regularly for a small breakfast with fried bread and a pot of Earl Grey. Friendly staff and comfortable surroundings. For a take home treat try a Battenberg cake, best you'll find anywhere, slice it up and it freezes just great. You can usually park on the main street somewhere FOC, just put a parking disc in your windscreen (parking disc's avalable in many shops foc)...

Popped in for a late breakfast on a Monday.... Two egg, bacon, and sausage with beans, toms and mushrooms with 2 slices toast all for £9.15. Awesome! Limited inside seating with table service. Usually quick turn around of seating space. Cake portions are huge... Pot of tea does three cups.... Lovely friendly staff... Glad we chose Gilchrist's 👌
