Glouglou Wine Bar & Shop — Restaurant in England

We had prebooked a table for dinner. We ordered a sharing platter & bottle of prosecco while considering the menu. We were advised there was no prosecco chilled & guided to a significantly more expensive bottle. Because we planned to order wine from the excellent choice to complement the food, we didn't wish to have an expensive bottle of prosecco to start. After a further chat with the waiter, we were advised there were bottles of the prosecco we had chosen in the fridge, 'but they are for cocktails' & we couldn't have one. We spoke to the manager, querying why a bottle would be on the regular menu (not specials so always on offer) but not actually available. He was dismissive & unhelpful. We left & enjoyed excellent wine, food, prosecco & service elsewhere. We won't be returning...

I love this place!!

This is the only place I tell people to go in Shrewsbury for a glass of wine - they are SO friendly and really know their stuff! I always have the opportunity to try something new at their recommendation based on my palate. It's such Wine Bar vibes too - I take all my first dates there because it's such an easy/elegant/cool space to be in. The cheese boards are the stuff of dreams - they give you this homemade chutney which makes me 🤤 just thinking about it. Glou Glou is my favourite wine bar! The service is brilliant and always happy to talk me through what wines to try and the staff are so helpful. I saw the Oyster Night advertised and I was worried I’d missed the chance to book in as they’d already sent off the orders.
