We ate here during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme for dinner. Friends of ours had eaten here for lunch. As there were no reservations we had to queue for about an hour. It was worth the wait though. The biggest problem I had was choosing something from the menu. We ordered a few small plates (everything comes all together). I wasn't sure about the sausages but the pork belly and the scallops were really good. Originally we got prawns instead of the scallops but this was rectified really quickly. I had the goan mussels which were lovely but the salad and fish from the BBQ looked really good. Our server was lovely and made recommendations. We had been seated by the door and it we were cold here. We had asked to move but were told by the lady on the door that it wasn't possible as she had many people waiting to be seated (I couldn't understand why she couldn't have sat someone at the table where we had been sat and moved us to a warmer area - she was actually quite rude and dismissive) but that was our only issue.

We been to the cafe during the day and had fish and chips the fish was beautiful the chips was ok but too crunchy for us On a Sunday they do a Sunday evening dinner which was nice the meat was a bit too red for me but they cooked it a bit more for me and the veg selection was a bit different even for my wife all cabbages and no peas but we both cleared the plate drinks were nice and the food area was clean even after the day beach traffic Prices were a bit on the dear side but the food and service was good One other thing I did not like was when you pay for your meal at the bar when you ordered it asked for a tip which I did not like not because I don’t tip I do but asking for this before you had your meal and not been served it wrong to ask for the tip before should be after as I would have given more Photos of fish and chips during the day and photos of the evening food and drink

I have enjoyed socialising and eating in and taking out food and drink from here on a number of occasions. The staff are friendly and professional and create an inviting atmosphere for their customers. I recently ordered a coffee which was of top standard and beautifully presented. More recently, I tucked into a deliciously fresh fish and chips meal and ate it with the beautiful sea-view to accompany. The food was also of top-standard and I felt very pleased with the service. One unfortunate qualm I have is that there is no Wi-Fi service and for Giffgaff, very weak phone signal for data access, also. If you like the idea of disconnecting from the online world and want to be absorbed into the true beauty that Gylly Beach has to offer, though, then this is no problem! Thanks for your service, Gylly Beach Cafe. I hope to return in the future.

So my wife & I went for lunch, the extension to the cafe looks lovely,we went & sat on the under cover front terrace. So here’s my first observation, there is now no short cut to the inside as the patio doors are locked so you could get another table inside, so no notice, walk to the end & go in around past toilets or around through front door. Next I’m in a standing along the bar & I’m 8th in line, if you want a drink only & the new outside bar is not open ( it wasn’t at that time) you hope someone comes along & asked if your only want drinks, not the best system. Split the bar & have people queeing 90 degrees to the bar, job done. The meal prices are at a premium because of the position but, my fish & chips though ok could have been better, so let’s break it down, mushy peas good, quantity good, tartar sauce was nice but a small quantity, next chips, god I hate chips in a bucket, but were tasty but frozen, next the fish, hmmm well beer batter ok but not big & very thin for the price, Falmouth is a fishing port? Next & I am being picky, so I noticed when I ordered the food there was no salt & pepper on any outside table so pinch them from inside which were on every table. So food delivered & I asked for vinegar (the tomato sauce if I wanted came in a tiny bowl, REALLY!!!!) I had one yes one in those bloody things you can’t open, my wife had to stab it with her fork, crap. Come on I know you you want to get your investment back, you employ a lot of young things floating around serving which is good but you need to step up for customer enjoyment & value for money. I hope it’s not just relying on the the position of the cafe as we have been going for years & it was...

Firstly, it's lovely and absolutely worth the visit. Just be mindful of the fact that they are a victim of their success until they iron everything out.

The new extension and the additional seating with the view over the beach is stunning!

The food is delicious and well portioned and the menu caters for everyone from young kids sausage and beans to the 3 different types of muscles on the menu, but not always in stock. This leads me to the bits that need to be sorted.

The list of items not available on the menu changes between ordering and getting back to the table, not sure how this happens with an epos till system in this day and age, stock portions should be live. The stock control is presumably still being adjusted as they work out demand given that they're new to the space. The inside ordering point is usually queuing out the door, the outside area takes food and drink orders but for reasons I havent understood didn't install a gun drinks dispenser on the otherwise comprehensive refit leading to a miss match of everything arriving. Not great when you have kids.

This could all be solved with a QR table ordering system, and absolutely should have been in the planning and design process.

The staff are all helpful if not particularly well trained, standing drinking iced coffees while customers waited. Not knowing what they serve or from where and not processing kids meals as one advertised price but individual items. One manager required for all refunds and queries suggest a need for more trusted team leads.

The moment they sort the back end to what is an unrivalled beach front location with talented chefs it will stand as an...

Gylly Beach has always been a go-to spot for me and my partner due to its location, but unfortunately, more often than not, we encounter issues with the service or our orders.

This evening, for example, my partner ordered the fish and chips while I went for the Gylly steak burger. When placing my order, I made it very clear that I have a severe egg allergy. I specifically asked about the ingredients, highlighted mayonnaise as a concern, and was assured that they could provide a vegan bun and remove the mayo.

However, when my meal arrived, I asked for ketchup, opened the burger, and immediately saw mayonnaise inside. This could have caused a life-threatening reaction had I not checked. I raised the issue with the waiter, who took it back to the kitchen. After a 20-minute wait, a replacement burger was brought out, but it was cold — and no apology was given for what could have been a very serious incident.

To add to this, my partner’s fish and chips were served correctly but also arrived lukewarm at best. For the prices charged here, this is far below the standard of service expected.

This isn’t an isolated experience either. On many previous visits we’ve had items missing from orders, long waits, and other service issues, even during quiet off-season times.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but given the seriousness of what happened with my allergy — and the lack of acknowledgment from the staff — I felt this needed to be mentioned. Whether this is teething problems with new ownership or just ongoing poor service, it’s something that urgently...
