Went to Princess Pavilions to watch Seth Lakeman. The evening started with Martin Harley who played acoustic blues with a twang of country. The majority of his extremely skilful set was played with a slide acoustic on his lap. Chuck in the soulful vocals and personable banter between songs and you were left with a highly entertaining half an hour or so. His guitar work is top drawer too. Seth Lakeman had a guitarist/banjo player, a bass guitarist who mainly played an upright (double) bass and a drummer as his band. Again the skill levels were sky high but always complemented each other never competing with each other. Seth sang, played violin, bazouki, guitar and banjo, all with remarkable ease and skill. His songs are beautifully crafted, personal and enchantingly catchy. Highlights for me were Soloman Browne, a song paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the Penlee lifeboat disaster 19th December 1981 and dedicated the song to the R.N.L.I to huge applause. Other highlights were The Educated Man, Divided We Will Fall, The Fitzsimmons Fight, The Colliers and Take No Rogues amongst others. While being fully aware of Seth I'd never seen him live before but will definitely go again at the next opportunity. A consummate pro who had toured recently as part of Robert Plant's band. In an age where so much of the music industry is style over substance here is a man who in the tradition of the old style story telling troubadours entertains with songs of substance and style. Seth is a Devonian who along with Muse, Ben Howard, Sound Of The Sirens and Wildwood Kin are really putting our neighbour County firmly on the musical map. Seth Lakeman a true craftsman and a credit to...
Read moreI spent my long weekend in Falmouth as my little break from London. I have been in Falmouth few times and I found this town lovely place to visit.
Last Sunday 26th May 2024 I and few friends went to visit this place which it was very lively with families, live music just by the sea.
One moment I went to its bar to get a coffee. There wasn’t busy I stand on queue as it was only one lady being served by a staff named Sam. After 3 mins waiting he finished with this lady and he look at the queue and asked, who next?! I said me! There was a gentleman standing behind me and this staff SAM totally ignored me saying that man was there first and he started taking his order.
I could not believe what that happening, I felt totally discriminated by this staff. His colleague apologised after but him didn’t and started being quite rude and arrogant.
I work as bartender over 10 years in a busy places in London I never had kind of discrimination by staff, colleagues or costumers. I am not sure if they have proper training to deal with such things.
No apologies, no compensation just nothing! I felt so bad being treated like that I was the only few not white person in that restaurant in that moment.
I hope they will learn with those situations because it could go in that...
