Going down hill quickly.
One of the key points for a Harvester breakfast over other dine in locations was the option for a buffet style continental breakfast (which was stopped during COVID to never return with things like unlimited toast and juice) and the other was the willingness for any meal customisation was always accepting, this is now not the case and you can either have the meal as it comes or nothing at all.
And yet after a recent menu change, I find myself sat here with my family while they eat and I have nothing because changes to the menu are no longer allowed, possibly because the chefs are either robots, unable to change their programmings or more likely, shareholders don't like their customers and will likely fall by the wayside in the near future with overpriced "per glass" juice and an inability to cater for the customer. So should you see a menu item you mostly like the look of but a significant portion of it you wouldn't actively choose eat, they won't replace food items around, it's either as per menu or choose something else resulting in you paying for it and wasting food or like myself, refusing to eat while staring at the competition across the road waiting for your children to finish eating (if it wasn't for the children I would have walked out the door, but as any parent knows, attempting to move hangry kids after entering a restaurant is not something you do lightly)
Maybe the company may survive the change, but I would think their core returning customers will slowly fade away for other alternatives, similar I guess how ToysRus faded into administration because they too also kept driving prices while forgetting what made them popular in the first place (like meal customisations, unlimited juice, toast and cereal.)
If you want any of those things, juice is now £2 a glass, toast £1.50 for two slices and cereal £2.50 a bowl, and when you have children who are as children always are, picky, then these made the difference over choosing harvester to their rivals. As previously a family oriented USP, they have now lost that aspect as it costs cash strapped families 25-35% more for a breakfast to include the hidden extras, these will only serve to push families away when they realise these facts also.
Sad to say, after 15+ years of repeat business, I won't be returning in the future.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the Harvester restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we entered, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the stage for an enjoyable evening. However, it was our server, Amber, who truly made the evening unforgettable.
Amber's genuine friendliness and attentive nature added an extra touch of warmth to our dining experience. She greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. Throughout the evening, Amber consistently went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction, making us feel like valued guests.
One aspect that particularly impressed me was the speed at which our food arrived. Harvester prides itself on serving food promptly, and they certainly lived up to their reputation. It was clear that the restaurant's staff worked seamlessly together to deliver a seamless dining experience. Despite the busy evening, our orders arrived at the table without delay, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed.
Speaking of the food, I must say it was simply delicious. The flavors were vibrant, and each dish was expertly prepared. The Bird Surf and Turf, in particular, was a standout. The combination of tender, succulent meat and perfectly cooked seafood was a gastronomic delight. The presentation was visually appealing, and the portions were generous, leaving us completely satisfied.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Harvester restaurant to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience. The combination of fantastic food, swift service, and the lovely presence of Amber as our server made it an evening to remember. Whether you're looking for a casual meal or a special occasion, Harvester is sure to deliver an...
Read moreFood was great no issues there The waitress asked for allergy’s and my dad (whose birthday it was) is allergic to alcohol even in food. And as much as the alcohol is cooked out of food it’s not worth the risk.
She questioned him repeatedly to the point of saying what is it in alcohol you’re allergic to. I said it’s the ethanol. He can’t have it when she went to take our starters she wasn’t going to take the cutlery to the point she saw the look we were giving and asked didn’t we want to keep our cutlery - the answer obviously being no. We’re paying for meals we expect cutlery clean per meal. She didn’t come to ask for desserts to the point I went to get a dessert menu and she found me and I said I’m just trying to save you a job and she sort of tutted. When we eventually got to her to ask for the bill (after what felt like forever after our desserts) I let her know I had a blue light card. She was quite a firm sound in the “I need a QR code” so I asked where do I get that and she just shrugged and stared at me. I then found it myself she told us the total - we were unable to actually read what we had but we had had enough by that point and paid and left shortly after
I’ve no issues with harvester as a chain and we’ve been to that one before and been ok but we will probably stick to the one in horwich near the stadium as the service was miles better then this with her attitude. (I am unable to give her name as I didn’t get the bill properly to...
