We came here for Sunday Lunch, the food was delicious and well-portioned, however when we walked in there was no-one to greet us and it wasn’t clear where the restaurant was so we were stood looking lost for a few minutes. The food arrived and the waitress said she would be back in a second with something we didn’t catch, we assumed this was the cauliflower and leek gratin which we were looking forward to from the menu. Unfortunately no one came to check on us during the meal so we couldn’t ask about it. When we paid the bill we asked and were told it wasn’t available that day. Also, I’m a vegetarian and while the wellington was delicious, the extra gravy provided was meat-based so I couldn’t eat it. Our table was positioned next to the bar in the front room, and we could hear the waitresses behind the bar complaining about one of their tables while we waited for our meal. The food took a while to arrive but that was fine as it was busy that day. We live locally and were looking forward to eating here but the service could...
Read moreI had a nice stay at the hotel with the staff being very friendly and supporting though not in a contrived, fawning manner. The room was clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. I had no issues with the shower flow or temperature or any of the bathroom facilities. Breakfast, which was a decent portion size, was included in the already very reasonable price for the room. The location is excellent for those visiting Bath or Bristol as comparable hotels in either city are considerable more expensive while Keynsham is in easy of reach of either. In terms of negatives of this hotel, the only one that stands to mind is its parking. With a gravel car park and thus no marked parking bays, the limited parking space isn't necessarily used efficiently as some people park so far away from each other to avoid being doored by nearby cars that fewer cars can park. This is complicated further by the hotel's bar being open to patrons who are not...
Read moreHad full English for breakfast, not a huge plate full of food but it's good quality and well cooked. Main menu is from 12pm I believe, not a huge choice of meals but still options for most I would say. I had the Ribeye with triple cooked chips and Cafe de Paris sauce, I asked for the steak rare and I can honestly say I can't remember the last place that cooked a steak so well. Two of the group had slightly different burgers which were of a good size, very filling, with fries which were nice and crispy. The last of our group had Bao buns with Katsu chicken, small (4 buns) but packed full of flavour, definitely worth a try. It all came out at the same time and everything was hot, plates went back empty and 4 satisfied customers. Highly recommended if your in the area, a credit to the...
