Update: STILL riding on the reviews of the previous owners. This restaurant is The Fawlty Towers of restaurants in Church Stretton. I haven’t yet had a meal without drama - today a takeaway -the beer pump was faulty so I couldn’t get a draught beer. My meal was quick, but Thai Holy Basil prawns and calamari didn’t have a hint of Thai basil, or ginger or actually anything Thai related. It was tasty but nothing to do with holy basil! There was no calamari either but maybe it was either or - not clear on the menu. I have come to the conclusion that this place must be a front for money laundering or something - no-one could possibly run such a badly organised restaurant that hasn’t once managed to produce what has been ordered in a timely and effective manner, unless something else was their actual focus.
It’s interesting that these reviews mainly refer to Housmans before it was Pan Asia. It is now a totally different restaurant and really should have its own reviews rather than riding on the success of previous owners.
It’s COLD in this place now - my vest, long sleeved t-shirt and thin jumper were not enough!. - The back door is often open. We’ve been twice and there have been non-customers sitting on back tables once doing admin and once entertaining their baby. Service is very friendly but we waited 1h45 mins for main courses. Starters were over cooked (and graciously refunded). It feels like the diners-in are second to the takeaway service. I believe there was a problem with kitchen staff due to Covid but it did put a dampener on a birthday dinner. The food is generally very good and authentic, but consistency isn’t great. A shame as it won’t take long to lose the locals. They’ve lost the warm bustly feel that Housmans had even on a quiet day. Thankfully our curry house is...
Read moreUpdated!! I was more amused at the faulty tower scenario. Staff were doing their best. Management very nice. All needs to pull together. Quite a few teething problems. Food was good. Try and be patient is all I can say, you might find you enjoyed yourself. I did. Updated. 10 6 22. This place should and could be one of the best places to eat. I watched the manager agonise and get embarassed trying to sort out the problems that Pan Asia was and still is suffering from when I last spoke about the place. The staff have changed since our last visit. Including the manager. A pub come restaurant. So why can you not get a guiness on draught. ??? Another problem to deal with. Unfortunately things have not improved. I can clearly see that it's not the staff that are the problem but the lack of staff. The lack of organisation. The staff that we had dealings with were very nice and polite. The food is excellent, so why is this place suffering? My husband and I were talking to the manager and while we were talking the managers phone rang. The manager apologised and said he had to take the call as it was the owner. I feel that the owner needs to really see the struggle that his business is having. If the boss put more effort in and got the basics sorted maybe Pan Asia could be a successful restaurant. Karaoke is not going to bring in the customers. Good customer service and organisation will. I will be visiting again and I would like to see improvement as I believe in supporting local businesses and most of all I would like to pass on to the general public on what a great place...
Read moreNever again. Placed order online and went to collect 40 minutes later. Place was empty; no staff and nobody dining. I waited, and waited and another customer arrived to collect their order. Front of house guy finally appeared after 5+ minutes, oblivious to the fact we were there. He sat at his laptop and streamed football to a large screen TV before a chef appeared and prompted the guy to attend to us. Guy advised me it would only be a few minutes. 10 minutes later, food finally appeared. Dire service. Mediocre food; Singapore rice was dry, stodgy and lacking flavour. Never again.
Edited 9th June following Management response: I only post reviews when somewhere is exceptionally good or appallingly bad. In the case of Housemans Pan Asia, the management are riding on reviews of the original business, which Google does not permit; check all review sites with recent dates (including T-advisor) and you will see my experience is recognisable by many others. Instead of being accountable, apologising and improving, they use emotive language to discredit my review. The feeble and defensive response below...
