Jaflong — Restaurant in England

Tried to book a table here NYE as we were visiting and the planned celebrations were cancelled due to the weather. I got a quick email reply to say they were fully booked, which I thought they would be, but we're doing take away. So we decided to order a take away. Well I wish we hadn't. I was really looking forward to it after reading all the good reviews but I have to say it was one of the worst curries I have ever had. Bland and oily. I will say the meat in it was good quality but it just didn't taste of anything. The food was delivered quickly but my partners main was missing. He called the delivery driver, who was lovely and she said she would get them to do it straight away and apologised. She came back with it 30 mins later and said the chef has made it this time but they don't do that curry anymore and asked if we ordered it from a menu in the pub we were staying in. The food was really good best we've had in a long time. Visited here last night 30th Sept unfortunately the service was a big let down we waited 40 mins for our starter. We noticed other customers also waiting a long time for their orders we actually heard some customers asking where their food was, It would appear by the amount of takeaways that was going through the door that the take away orders takes preference over the sit down customers. After waiting 40 mins for the starter we then had another 20 mins for the mains which turned into 30 mins because each part of our main was brought out seperatly rather than together that left our nann bread nearly cold by time everything was served to us. We would have definitely give this a five star if not for the poor service, We would go again but would hope for...

Jaflong is 100% the best curry house in Ripon. It's not even a close battle. Jaflong is miles ahead of Maharani and Moti Raj. I have a desi karahi Indian style and I'm not joking it's immense. It's how curry should be....deep flavours and lots of spice. The garlic pliau is also amazing. The other two are quite average "Indians" (both actually Pakistani / Bangladeshi as jaflong is but not as good). I had my family here this weekend we all love a curry every single person remarked how much better it was than your normal take away stuff. For ages I've felt curry houses in Ripon were quite poor.
