JANNA SPICE — Restaurant in England

Been meaning to put a review on here for a while.... had numerous dine in and takeaways from here and it is truly spot on.

Must admit the odd less complimentary review I’ve read clearly comes from the chicken tikka masala mob - I would ignore them... I have friends come over from West Yorkshire and Manchester regularly that are far more curry cultured than me (and I worked on the sub continent) and they rave about this place ! A must visit.

Meat is excellent quality, the restaurant is spotlessly clean, prices are reasonable and when compared to one of the local alternatives - there is really ZERO comparison believe me ! The chaat starters are light and flavoursome, the railway chicken has depth and there is an array of rices / breads that hit the spot ! There are a few specials that you will struggle to get in any of the local alternatives - desi style if this is your thing - go for it !

Thank goodness for Jannah.... otherwise it would be York City Centre and three times the price to get anything near...

I tried this restaurant for the first time tonight, although only for take away, but I enjoyed the food very much. Big portions and good quality. The menu has a number of dishes which I've not seen before and that always interests me as I like trying new things.

For example, there's a lamb shank dish on the menu which tempted me, but I thought that it would be better freshly served in the restaurant. In the end I opted for chicken tikka garlic chilli and korma for my wife. We had a stuffed paratha, dall tarka, a portion of pilau rice and they made us chana sag although it's not on the menu. They gave us a couple of popadoms which was a nice touch although I could have done with a pickle tray to go with us, but given it was a freebie, I can't complain.

All in all, a very good first experience. The restaurant itself looks very nice so I'll make a point of booking a table to...

I ordered a takeaway last night, to be delivered, spent £36, no salad or sauce with my onion barges, chic tikka masala, chic dupiasa, which were both very bland, and not a lot of chicken, we were both disappointed, we have ordered from here before, and found it hit or miss, well this is the last time il bother, I dident pay for a cheep meal, so I dident expect one.

iv just read your reply to my review, and as there's no way to reply to your apology, iv edited my reveiw, saying sorry that my meal wasent upto your usual standards, doesent really cut it does it? that doesent make me feel any better that I wasted £36 through no fault of my own, apart from me picking up the phone and dialing your bloody number, if your going to apologise at least offer me...
