Two of us came this morning for breakfast and coffee. The service is outstanding, attentive staff but not all over you, we asked for another few minutes to look at the menu as they were keen to take our order upon arrival. They were more than happy to give us a few extra moments to decide. The menu is right up my street, not pages and pages of different things, a very good selection of quality breakfast/brunch dishes along with sandwiches etc. I had creamy mushrooms on toast with additional poached eggs and my partner in breakfast craving crime had smashed avocado on toast, again with additional poached eggs. The food arrived a matter of minutes after ordering and was absolutely delicious, a very hearty portion of a dish done exactly how I wanted it. The atmosphere was superb, it’s a medium sized busy dining area and you don’t in any way feel in the way or on top of other people which was very nice. The cake/desert selection is top drawer and we took some...

Overpriced and pretentious! I visited on a Sunday, with family. We arrived just before 9am, but the doors were open, so we went in and stood waiting to be seated. We were then told quite bluntly that we had to wait outside as they don’t open until 9:00. Literally 2 minutes later (at 9:00), we were informed that we were allowed to come in now! Not a great start. This is a personal thing, but the waitress kept calling us “guys”; the majority of the group were female! “Are you guys ready to order” - what’s wrong with asking “is everyone ready to order”. The food was good but very small portions for the money. This place is obviously for the trend followers, the sort that prefer ‘style over content’. Not for me, I’m afraid! I prefer a decent breakfast for the amount of money they charge, and above all, good...

Best coffee shop in York with the very best staff We are very lucky in York to have some amazing coffee shops/cafes, but the Curious Coffee Co in Haxby is without doubt my absolute favourite. The coffee is superb and they do Cafetieres which is a huge bonus for me as its my favourite way to drink coffee. The staff are not just friendly they are fantastic and led by Sue who does an amazing job. They are fun, welcomng and this place has got such a fantastic vibe not to mention fabulous food. Treat yourself to mushrooms on toast. Sublime 😀 Or an absolutely devine cheese scone served with butter, cream cheese and chutney or a fruit scone served with butter, rhubarb and ginger preserve and clotted cream. And as if that wasnt enough you can take your dogs. Five star cafe with five star staff and five...

Humble food. There are bacon sandwiches and bacon sarnies, then there’s a bacon bun from Haxby’s Curious Coffee. They are simply a cut above your normal bacon roll. 4 thick rashers of the local butcher’s bacon perfectly cooked to how you like it served in a lightly buttered sesame seeded roll. Ketchup if you want it but trust me, you don’t want to hide the flavours of that bacon. Oh and the coffee is damn good too 😋. Service is friendly and efficient - what more could you want. So if you live in the area, save yourself a few quid on York city centre prices and treat yourself to quite possibly the best bacon sarnie out there.

We visited on Sunday morning (10ish) the place was pretty empty but filled up straight away. Food and drinks were served quickly and looked and tasted amazing. My sister had Caesar salad and said it was the best one to date. My creamy mushroom toast with poached eggs was massive, presented perfectly and tasted amazing. You can ask staff for a take away box as portions are generous.
