Paddyfields — Restaurant in England

Visited here for the first time today and highly recommend.

Food : The flavours were incredible. All tasted extremely fresh and well-balanced. Husband had the ribs and was enthusiastic throughout, he said there was 'loads of meat'! Large portions and I was able to take my leftovers home.

Service: The waiting staff were extremely polite and courteous. Between courses they wiped down the table so that you were sat in a clean environment which I thought was amazing attention to detail. Service was prompt. I ordered a jasmine tea and the waiting staff proactively checked if I had run out of water and as soon as I had there was a replacement teapot brought out for me without me having to ask. I felt very taken care of.

Atmosphere: Great atmosphere! It was some one's birthday and everyone sang Happy Birthday! There was even quite a funny moment where it suddenly went quiet, except for one guest that was singing a song to his table and everyone in the restaurant started laughing and asked him to sing another song for us all 😂 He was a little embarrassed but it made us all laugh.

Price: Very reasonable given...

A lovely restaurant in the middle of the village, from walking in you felt looked after, the lovely gentleman ( I think the owner) was so happy and helpful we were getting take out because we were getting one of the late buses back to our hotel on Wigginton Road opposite the hospital, he went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed to be able to eat it when we got back because there was no plates or forks to use he provided us with wooden forks spoons and knives, and we were able to eat out of the foil containers, he gave us hand wipes and he knew we were getting the bus and the order didn't take long to arrive and presented to us by the lovely man, we lived in Haxby many years ago and was visiting family, it's our new go to...

We had phoned earlier to try reserve a table and were told it wouldnt be possible, so we were genuinely disappointed when we arrived and the staff refused to split a table of five into a two and a three so we could be seated – especially as we had literally just seen five people leave from that very table.

While the food itself is good, the service was extremely poor. The gentleman we dealt with was unnecessarily rude and confrontational, which was completely uncalled for. My daughter is ten years old and does not require a large amount of space, yet he chose to be difficult purely for the sake of it.

This kind of behaviour leaves a lasting negative impression and undermines what could otherwise have been an enjoyable...
