Quinns Wine Café and Kitchen — Restaurant in England

I’ve had the pleasure of eating at Quinn’s both for lunch & evening since it opened and both experiences have been perfect! Lunch was opulent, a real treat! The coffee was creamy & delicious and the vibe was bustling, yet I also felt able to pull out my laptop and answer a couple of emails! Evening service was cosy & intimate- exactly the ambience you want for wine & cheese! As a vegetarian I was super pleased to know I was able to order a board of just cheese separate to the meat. The ladies there really know their stuff when it comes to wine and were able to recommend the perfect choice based of what I said I liked… and for fellow red lovers, on a summers evening you HAVE to try the chilled red, it was beautiful! I can see the vibes intended to be achieved by this place, however I feel the quality of the food nor service simply wasn't what I would expect from the price. A couple of small slices of bread with low quality salmon with nothing on the side, isn't really worth £8. I'd be happy to pay these prices for these portions if the quality of the food matched the level of exclusively that I think this place is aiming for. The service was exceptionally slow, I don't expect to wait over 30 minutes for an okay quality sandwich. Good potential and a nice idea, service and food quality needs improving, or prices need reducing. Quinns is exactly what Haxby (and Wigginton) needed, a proper wine bar. The food is really good and the portion sizes are perfect to compliment the seasonal selection of wines. So on an autumnal evening, tucked inside, quoffing wine in Quinns was perfect. Yes there were operational issues with the card machine but these are common everywhere, particularly in hospitality and retail. Was it busy, yes, did we book, yes.
