Booked this for a function on a weekday. Arrived and was booked in very quickly by the duty manager who was brilliant and very well spoken and informative. Brilliant start.||This hotel/ restaurant is spotless and very well decorated with a very nice feel about the place. The double room was very spacious with tea & coffee making facilities, nice decor and the bathroom was like brand new. Large wardrobe and very well presented.||Car parking is available either at the rear of this hotel or at the sister hotel 50 yards away and free.||On having a drink before attending our function nearby, the barstaff were excellent and friendly and the prices very reasonable. Although we didnt eat at the hotel, the menu looked very inviting and on seeing a few meals being served they looked very nice and well presented. Bit gutted we didnt get the chance to eat there.||Breakfast was served at the sister hotel the Golden Lion 50 yards down the street, and no issues with it at all. Spot on. The only downside was breakfast finished at 9am, so not much of a lie in and room to be vacated by 10am, maybe a bit too early after a boozy night for both breakfast and to be booked out by 10. Not a deal breaker just my personal opinion. ||Overall this hotel is little gem and i would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to anybody else, and i cannot stress how accommodating the manager and his staff were on arriving, to being served and spoken to. Credit where credits due.||Could not fault this hotel, in the middle of the beautiful high street, great room and public areas and great service. We will be back for a weekend...

Very disappointed with the room, I booked a 'deluxe double' on a single occupancy basis and was given a single room that was like a student dorm room. Nothing like the pictures advertised, definitely wouldn't have been suitable for 2 people, despite what the staff member tried to say, tiny window that looked at another wall 2 ft away.||Issues with facilities in the room such as the shower (shower head wouldn't stay in position), kettle (faulty - stayed on when button was off) and hairdryer (missing, then supplied with a backup that was really sticky).||Noisy from bar below and people moving around the hotel, and in room above (although that was to be expected, others might be unhappy about that).||When I queried the room I'd been assigned, I was basically shrugged at by a surly lady who said I should have booked direct through them rather than booking.com. There were no other available rooms.
