My work colleague and I were wanting a Sunday roast and after reading the excellent reviews posted for The Kings Head thought it would be perfect.... so you can imagine how utterly disappointed we were when we were told there was a 30 minute wait (which turned into 45 !) and that the meal was an abomination!! I very much like well presented and tasty food and it was neither. Sunday roast is a basic and can be cooked easily when timings are considered but this meal consisted of 1 miniscule roast potato and a tblsp of overcooked chicken and veg with a thick dollop of gravy covering the entire plate! Upon complaining I was given more overcooked veg and chicken with gravy (in a jug this time ) that if I wanted to could not have been poured out!! Has the chef no idea what he's sending out ? I realise that they had had cheffing issues but please couldn't he see that it looked like it had already been eaten and discarded once before! Get your chef sorted ASAP as I can genuinely say this was the worst Sunday lunch my friend and I have ever had in our entire lives ! Payment up front never a good idea as you're only refunded with a meal...
Read moreA lovely pub offset alongside the river with a friendly atmosphere and really welcoming staff, always a cuppa if you ask nicely too which can never be a bad thing. Set in an old style Tudor house it gives a real feel for the heritage of the town itself, always a comfortable place to seat and enjoy food and even if you refer to be on your feet and even have a dance, there’s space enough for everybody to enjoy themselves. Always a great vibe from workers and punters alike and getting to onlook some of the live music from a wide range of genres is one of the things that really draws me towards the King’s Head and has me continuing to return…not to mention some of the menu items which I might add are just a little bit yummy!! If you like good food, music and a mellow environment with plenty of all types of alcoholic beverages and otherwise. Then definitely stop in and give the place a...
Read moreOther than the friendly staff and quick-ish service, the food was a complete let down, the menus had food that wasn't even available according to the chef. Then, the Sunday roast was an appalling effort and an insult to the roast name.
The meat was overcooked, and the portions were tiny for the price.
Then, just as we started to eat, they put music on that loud. You couldn't hear your own parties conversation across the table. I understand music is normal in a pub, but when my family was the only people in there, why have loud music blaring deafening you.
Well, well, well..The dessert, what a disappointment.. cold sticky toffee pudding with cold custard. Sloppy Chocolate fudge cake.
We've spent almost £100 and would have received a better service and food from mcdonald's
PLEASE...
