Just absolutely awful, and I'm not talking about the food, but the awful attitude of the owner when making a simple and justifiable complaint about the mens toilet & the very loud pop music being played. I'm not exactly finicky, but on entering the men's toilets here the entire seat and floor were sprayed by urine. Finding the sitting seat was down I attempted to lift it, but being a cheap kind of seat it just immediately flopped down, this being why men have no choice but to leave it down to do their business. I tried to lift it with toilet paper, but it soaked immediately through to my hand. The door to the single cubicle doesn't even shut (this apparently being the same in the ladies). The other issue was the really loud pop music played. I'm not talking Indian pop music, but brash rubbish stuff. One song was "I'm a Barbie girl"... Clearly music chosen by (and for) the staff and not the customers. So I was asked if everything was ok by the waiter at the end? Rather than be dishonest I told him about the toilet situation alone. He then got the manager who made no comment or excuse about any of my points apart from defending asking me from where I was from? I asked why and he said "had I been from Shrewsbury (which I actually am) I would have known that his was a very old restaurant going back 50 years" (and?). He then just threw the payment machine, keyed in the amount and repeated the price to me waiting for me to pay. I said that I wouldn't pay the 5% service charge they had auto inserted and then paid the rest. Absolutely awful attitude and treatment. We also witnessed quite a tense exchange on the table next to us on arrival, the 3 people on it complaining to an irrate manager about a rude waiter who told them "I'm not the chef so can't recommend anything on the menu". We thought this brave of those customers given the clear attitude of staff generally (which did not reflect the very good and attentive service most often experienced in an Indian restaurant). So in all honesty, the food was good, but the staff attitude and response to a genuine complaint was awful. Had he just stated the toilet issue would be corrected and that he would consider the loud music, then I would have left feeling I had been treated slightly more pleasantly. I rarely complain, but when I do in response to an invite I expect to be treated courteously and my issue to be...

No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try.
The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor.
Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours.
Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly.
The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. If you are looking for a curry house with a difference this is the place for you.

Read moreWe were camping at the Showground nearby, and I had come across the Curry House earlier when in Shrewsbury itself, it looked good, but was not open as it was a little to early and we had dogs with us anyway. When we got back to the van, we decided to try a take away from there if possible. Rather than use the take away menu online, I phoned as I wanted to ask if they would deliver to the showground, which they would. I ordered Sylheti Lamb Pepper Sag as a starter, Lamb Jalfrezi with Pilau Rice for main, and the wife, Old Delhi Butter Chicken, but Lamb instead, with Pilau Rice and a plain Paratha. We were given a 45 minute wait which was fine, and pretty much to the minute the restaurant phoned and told me the driver had arrived and was looking for us. My wife went to the gate to collect, and the driver had been to reception and was about to look for us on the site. We didn't expect to go that far and was prepared to wait at the gate!
Anyway, by the smell wafting from the bag I knew we had hit jackpot, and upon eating my Lamb starter I regretted I had not ordered more dishes as it was really excellent. The same went for both our curries. We could find no fault with the whole experience at all, and we will definately be using the curry house the next time we are in the area, very likely a sit in instead of a take away, and definitely with an empty stomach so I can have more samples of their excellent cuisine. Thanks very much to all the staff that made that...
