Taste was amazing! 10 out of 10!
I can't recommend this restaurant enough as a must have experience on the island a prime example of Filipino Food
The Rice had a wonderful habit of sticking together it was perfectly fluffy it was presented beautifully in its own pot and plate with which was a fresh set of salad greens which were originally seen as decorative this was a mistake on my part as they were simply bursting with flavour with a satisfactory crunch and when added to the vast dance of flavours they were found not only appealing but complimentary
The sizzling beef and onion was stunning on the highest flavour profiles as a amazing flavour it was easy to tell this beef had been cooked inside the sauce which was a absolute delight
With such a robust (and tasty!) beef flavour it can be difficult to find a complimentary flavour that can stand apart from as well as with the beefs flavour but the onion in this dish did so wonderfully but this is something that can't be overlooked it had both crunch and softness something famous in highclass restaurants for touting their "texture dexterity"
With only a few subtle pinches of peppercorn came a powerful reminder that small additions can make a meal and undoubtedly unforgettable and a new favourite overnight
Then came dessert a wonderfully striking purple yam cake and it is my humble opinion the best cake on the Isle of Wight
A natural purple and a heavenly melt in the mouth creation I can't tell you how impressive this cake was to experience
it was a truly amazing creation I can only share that this experience was sweet the spongy cake was a delight on the tounge but dear reader I fear my words will fail to do it justice so unfortunately I must ask you to trust me and try it for yourselves
Will be going back at my...
Read moreAs tourists in the area we had no idea where to go for dinner. Reviews made Kusina sound great and as my daughter is vegetarian we wanted good options for her too and this appeared to tick our boxes, so we booked a table over the phone the day before for 5pm and made our way over…
We LOVED it!!!
The host couldn’t have been more friendly without being overbearing. She deftly spoke to us with warmth and compassion. None of our party of 4 had tried Filipino food before so we took some advice on our dishes.
All of our meals were lovely and flavourful, presented in a nice way without being fussy.
My overall feeling for the restaurant was joy. It brought joy. You felt at home here and very welcomed. I didn’t feel like we were being served, I felt like a guest.
We were told everything on the menu could be made vegetarian, which was incredibly flexible and accommodating to our daughter. The host asked my daughter what she liked and we ended up with exactly that in her dish, which she really liked.
The inside isn’t massive, but never felt noisy. It felt more intimate and added to the homely feel.
For desert we had two items to share between us, Yema cake and mango cake. Both were nice, but the Yema cake was the winner. We all REALLY enjoyed that and wish we could get it locally to where we live.
They boxed up some of our leftover main meals and we headed back out with full bellies and warm hearts.
If we lived closer we’d 100% come back again.
For anyone wanting to try something different in a warm and friendly place, this is for you. I couldn’t...
Read moreChristy and her hubby were the most amazing people ever. They were so accommodating to out request for halal food which just made our holiday even more special and better. Yes Kusina does halal as long as you call in advance and let them know what dishes you need halal. Best Filipino food we have had ever. They were so amazing that they even did a special off the menu item of Filipino fried chicken for us. The restaurant is most massive but it's cozy and the food is hearty home made straight from the soul to the soul. We were a party of 13 people and had no problems with anything. We highly recommend this place for anyone Asian (Indian/ Pakistani) people who would love to try something different. We highly recommend the chicken tacino and the kids loved the BBQ chicken as well. For something sweet we would recommend you try the in house made chiffon cakes and especially the ubai cake (purple one) so light like a cloud and not sickly at all.
Thank you for everything Christy and Rick and we will definitely try your recommendation in Brighton too... Ps. The kids all wanted to come back to yours again the next day for more chicken.
PPS.. apolot on the bad karaoke but thanks for letting us have K-pop...
