I'd love to be able to let others know what it's like here, on a night out, but unfortunately I can't, and won't ever be in a position to comment on what it's like in this pub. Let me explain. A group of friends and I had been out in Newport, and after spending a couple of hours at the Castle Inn, decided we'd find a pub with music which was more to our liking. Someone suggested the Slug and Lettuce, so that's where we headed. We got to the door and were greeted by one of the door staff who looked at my trousers and said "They won't let you in with those bottoms on". I couldn't believe what I was hearing, as the trousers I had on bored no resemblance to tracksuit bottoms or jogging bottoms, but we're just light casual trousers (admittedly colourful,to match my t.shirt and shoes) but definitely not tracksuit bottoms or jogging bottoms). Anyway, after telling the doorman exactly what I thought of their dress code policy, we all went a couple of doors down the road and ended up at the Hogshead. Maybe it was a good thing that we didn't get in up the road, as the atmosphere at the Hogshead was really good, the music was excellent and the dj was brilliant. Read moreHad a great experience recently. 😊 It was incredibly quiet when we first arrived, creating such a peaceful atmosphere. I really appreciated that sense of calm from the start, it was perfect for a relaxing time and being able to have conversation. The service was consistently attentive, especially when it came to drinks. 🍹The staff were always ready to refill our glasses, and it made a big difference. The whole team seemed dedicated to ensuring everyone was well taken care of. It was a really good vibe overall, very welcoming and accommodating. I'm already looking forward to going back sometime soon. I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for a place to come and have lots of cocktails! The food was okay, but the cocktails is what...
Read moreWe visited the bar restaurant during our holiday this week. The Slug & Lettuce like Southampton attracts more young people than the older generation we are both 58. However we found the decor and the ambiance very welcoming very clean albeit on a night that wasn't too busy. Sarah the waitress was very polite and helpful and made us feel welcome she even asked if my wife didn't have a gluten problem when she ordered the Peroni. As for the food we had the S&L Sharer a pint and a bottle of Peroni and three desserts as they were 3 for £7.00 total bill £28.00 not bad at all. I have added the pics of the food as we enjoyed it so much. We'll done The Slug & Lettuce and the...
