My recent visit to La Speghatta Durham was an absolute disaster. The level of customer service I encountered was nothing short of appalling, and the behavior exhibited by the staff was beyond disrespectful. I was even asked to leave in the middle of my dinner, a truly humiliating experience.

From the moment I walked in, it was evident that the staff at La Speghatta Durham lacked any sense of professionalism or basic courtesy. The host greeted me with a disdainful look as if my presence was an inconvenience to them.

Once I finally sat down at my table, the rudeness continued. The server, who seemed utterly disinterested in providing good service, approached me with an air of annoyance. When I attempted to ask a few questions about the menu, they interrupted me with curt responses and an attitude that clearly conveyed their lack of interest in assisting me. It was evident that they were more interested in rushing through their tasks than in catering to the needs of the customers.

However, the most disheartening part of my experience occurred when, out of nowhere, I was asked to leave as the staff indicated that no food will be service on my table. There was no valid reason provided for this abrupt request, and it was conveyed in such a demeaning manner that I felt utterly humiliated. The lack of professionalism and common courtesy displayed by the staff was astounding, and I will never forget the utter disrespect I experienced.

In conclusion, my visit to La Speghatta Durham was a complete nightmare. The abysmal customer service, rude and disrespectful staff, and being asked to leave in the middle of my meal left a lasting negative impression. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment, as their treatment of customers is utterly disgraceful. There are plenty of other restaurants in Durham that value their customers; it would be wise to seek those...

Sorry to spoil the hype but... The service was prompt and the waiters focused but very polite on a very busy Saturday night. I was impressed with them! They have a huge demand so need a quick turnaround time and the manage it very well. However, I doubt that my £16 monkfish was fresh. My ordinarily v tolerant tummy wasnt v impressed. The house rosé was a concoction of blackcurrant juice mixed with vinegar. I upgraded to a Pinot Grigio which tasted like the house rose just a different colour and more expensive. The queue was utterly ridiculous so definitely please don't waste your time when there are so many other choices. If your student desperately wants to go, stick to pizza or pasta. The portions are generous for the pasta and you can have a doggy bag which is great for students. Arrive early before queue starts, don't order alcohol & don't try the posh nosh! As for great family atmosphere and perfect for date nights.... I guess it has been a long time since I was a student and I've been lucky enough to dine in some amazing places. £16 for 2 day old monkfish is just way too much! I watched students who were happy so perhaps it's best left to them.🤩 Very cramped and v loud so no chance for...

A bit disappointed at both the food and the service. We were a company of 4. We asked to be sat at a larger table as the reastaurant was almost empty, but the server ignored us and showed us to the far end of the restaurant and gave us a choise of 3 crammed tables. No-one really showed interest in whether everything was ok or not. We got a salad to share as a starter, but it was served infront of my mother in a very uninterested way. No side plates obviously, and we had to patiently wait to grab someone's attention. When they brought side plates it was only 3 of them. At this stage we were too hungry so inevitably one had to eat from the bowl itself. Each got their plate of food, I ordered the spinach and ricotta tortellini. In all honesty I have had the same exact tortellini from ASDA and it was about the same + a little bit of tomato sauce with peas and spring onion to mask the mediocrity. One of the only times I left food on my plate. At this stage I was very disappointed. The rest of the party said their food was good but I'm not sure whether they were just...

Came here with my friends for a meal and we were all very exited. When receiving the starter I was a little sceptical, we ordered potatoes wedges and a garlic bread, the wedges were full of oil and very obviously frozen and the garlic bread was dripping in oil. I ordered a spag bol for my main which was okay but nothing special, after eating a couple of mouthfuls of my food, my friend who had ordered a salmon pasta had multiple thick long back hairs in her food, she had pulled one from her mouth and visibly had loads mangled in her pasta, this quite obviously put me off my food and I am so put off any food in general now, I constantly think of her hairy pasta. This is not acceptable, I am put off going out for any meals at all, if I could rate this one star I would. DO NOT EAT HERE. The image below is my spag bol I wasted, not my friends pasta with hair in, however to say I had a few mouthfuls it still doesn’t look very appetising.

Incredible place to try some authentic Italian cuisine. Food is delicious and great value for money, very filling. The restaurant may be packed if you come at a wrong time, but I think I got lucky and was served in about 20 minutes. I ordered a lasagne, which was great, but maybe a little too much tomatoes for me, and my friend ordered a carbonara, which I also tried and I think that it was amazing. Overall, a great choice if you are visiting Durham as a tourist or a potential student or if you live here and just want to try tasty Italian food that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

Amazing hosts and food . So many places want you in and out as fast as possible, and definitely in the days of covid bookings, but here they were happy for us to sit and have a drink whilst we waited for my son and his partner to turn up and even let us move to a larger table. The food was very good and unfortunately due to a Train Booking we didn't get to try much beyond the Pizza and Chicken Parmigiana between us. Well Hopefully next time . Thanks go to all the Team at La Spaghettata p.s Sorry we are rubbish at selfies :)
