Sharply going downhill since they moved premises. The interior is not as nice although it is bigger. The biggest issue by far however is the staff. Used to be so friendly and attentive at the old place on the bridge, just went tonight and it would be easier to list what they got right. Took drinks and food order together, drinks arrived timely but when the food arrived 2 meals were wrong, and had missing items that were ordered. When asked about these, they brought one of them, but never showed up with the second until we asked another member of staff. There was a constant roulette of staff coming to the table, I think about 4 different people in total, none of which seemed to know what the last had done. Asked to see the dessert menu, and they forgot to come back to ask us what we wanted. By the time someone else showed up we were ready to leave. On top of this they automatically add the 10% service charge to the bill. You can ask to remove it, but it feels scummy that they automatically put it on the bill so you feel awkward asking to remove it when it's not deserved.

Not the same place that it used to be. Lost the homely and welcoming vibe and the staff are clueless as to what's actually going on with each table. Food is still decent, but with the prices constantly creeping up it's no longer the must-visit little secret...

Top tier food and a lovely place!

I visited on NYE with my girlfriend and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The staff were chatty and provided excellent service. The place was beautifully festively decorated.

The food was delicious most importantly. I intended to have their festive burger but unfortunately they didn't have any left. I did have the pigs in blankets as a side though. They were superb. Came with a good amount of tater tots and covered in cheese & gravy.

Fortunately I've been enticed by their impressive menu for a while so I had an alternative burger option in mind. I went for the 'Lockjaw' and it was fantastic. A good portion of pulled pork and quality onion rings but the smashed patty was the star. Amazing flavour from meat and cooked perfectly. The bun was excellent too.

My girlfriend loved the chicken tenders and they were nicely seasoned. The posh fries were crisp and well coated in garlic oil and parmesan.

They have a great variety of drinks and everything is reasonably priced. I'd be fairly confident in saying this is one of the top spots in Durham and somewhere we'll...

I don't usually write negative reviews, nor would I say this one is completely negative. The nachos with Korean brisket were great, meat was really good and well seasoned, the burger spring rolls were also okay - not to my taste but other half enjoyed them.

Now, onto the burgers.... For a restaurant that advertises themselves as a hamburger restaurant I was really looking forward to their burgers! And maybe my expectations were higher than in relation to a restaurant that just serves burgers among other things. We had the Gaucho and Kiss me Deadly. Gaucho was very salty, the meat not overly tender and just not great. Kiss me deadly - both patties were burnt and overall it was just nothing exciting. Chips were also overcooked. No coleslaw or something on the side to break the meaty/salty taste.

I would say let's give grace as it was a busy day, but it just wasn't great. If I were to compare it to Five Guys which is just a fast food restaurant, those burgers were closer to a pub burger.

Price wise nothing crazy as for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks we...

ad. These are the best burgers in Durham - huge, messy, with so many toppings to choose from and you'll find these beauties at Tango on Saddler Street Now Simon and I really disagree on what makes the perfect burger, he likes a nice simple American Burger where as I love my burger so filled with toppings that you can't fit it into your mouth. Tango is one of the few burger spots in the North East that meets both our requirements with a menu to tick all of your boxes.   You can build your own burgers so keep it super simple, or stuff it full with a choice of different extra toppings or you can go for one of Tango's own creations.  I always order the same because it's so good - the Van Man - double cheese, crispy bacon, low-slow onions, hash brown and burger sauce and sometimes if I feel like I want to make it extra messy, I will throw a fried egg in there too. Simon went for Tango's American Burger, the Uncle Sam - Classic smashed, house pickles, chopped white onion, lettuce, American cheese, American mustard, red sauce.  He was very impressed and believe me this man has had a lot of American burgers. But Tango aren't just about the burgers, they have loads of other choices on the menu and a cocktail menu. I spotted Frozen Twister on the specials menu and couldn't resist ... and Simon, being Simon, ordered a banana split milkshake because according to him you can't have a burger without a milkshake! Follwed by a lovely walk through Durham in the Spring sunshine and well you've got yourself the perfect evening out!    #tangodurham #durham #durhamfood #bestburgers #durhamrestaurant #nefoodie #visitdurham #lovedurham #northeastfood #durhamfoodie #durhamcity
