We took our dog for a walk and decided to sit by the cafe for a break and some food. Firstly, the owners were extremely friendly, helpful and kind. On arrival we were greeted by a young gentleman, although quiet at first, he was extremely helpful and polite. Nothing I asked was too much trouble. They have ramp access for wheel chairs, bowls of water for dogs and toilets situated a couple of metres behind the cafe. Our chips and coffee were lovely. There were many syrups to choose from in my coffee, which was lovely. We chose to sit outside with our dog, the owner brought us our food. We had such a wonderful chat and we appreciated the conversation. The atmosphere was lovely but quiet, it is a lot more noisier during peak times. It can get quite busy too, so it is just to be mindful of this to avoid disappointment in the seating areas. New ramps area for keen skaters and a wonderful play area for children. There is a boating lake nearby and children's rides, used in summer weather only. The lake grounds in general are a great day out, with areas for blankets, picnics and gazebos for small get togethers. Great for dog walkers too. There are benches along the promenade for sitting and watching the boats come in and out. The cafe has a great selection of food and drink overall and is a great place to meet friends. Don't believe it, why not see for yourself, it doesn't disappoint. Beautiful scenery, wonderful service and a great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husbsnd's parents had a holiday caravan down in Portishead a few years ago and before that actually ran the old Bay Hotel, We decided to take our kids down to show them where their dad went to school and hang around, Anyway getting on with this review. We decided to have lunch down at the Riverside Cafe, I've gotta be honest, we weren't that impressed with the food we had, my daughter and her friend had chicken nuggets and chips, and our son had sausage and chips, the chips on all three meals were over cooked, and the batter on the nuggets was over crispy, like brittle glass, I had a cheese and Tomato toastie, that was like leather, and my husband ordered a chicken mayo baguette, but was told the chicken was unfortunately still frozen, so he declined to dine with us, and just had a coffee, that was ok! For the price of food in there, we thought it would of been a lot better than it was, the kids did not eat the chips and tried to pick the outside of the nuggets off to eat the breast meat! The staff in there were very polite but quite young and we did wonder if they had there hygiene certificates. All in all, not a very good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was nice but extremely expensive, we had three one scoops on a single cone icecreams (because you canāt have two scoop because thereās no double scooping on can have two in a box) fish and chips, two drinks, kids sandwich box with crips and fruit shoot and it cost Ā£38 and 30p to use the restroom. My husband ended up leaving his phone there and we had to go back the next day but I canāt thank them enough because the lady did try looking for us and even worked over itās just that he didnāt notice for nearly an hour later that heād lost it so he had to drive down the following day to collect it and it was still there waiting for us to come back, now I think thereās a lot of people who wouldnāt of done that especially because they would of thought us not being from there weād not drive back (and you would know we werenāt local giving us speaking in a Birmingham accent compared to their North west accent) but either way I think some people would of claimed that they didnāt know of any phone but they really did save us a lot of money and inconvenience with their excellent service. Thank you...
