I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding an upsetting experience I had at your Aldi store located on Wyndham Way, on Friday 4th July 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM.
I had visited the store to do a small shop, accompanied by my daughter who was in her pushchair. As is often the case, the pushchair had some personal items underneath, which had clearly been purchased previously from other stores.
While I was in the process of paying at the self-service checkout—at a time when all self-checkouts were occupied and there was a long queue behind me—a male member of staff approached me and crouched down beside my pushchair to examine the items stored underneath. This was done in full view of everyone around, and I was left feeling deeply embarrassed, humiliated, and singled out.
I want to be very clear that I have never stolen from a supermarket. The implication made by the staff member, and the way in which it was handled, was both inappropriate and degrading. I believe this treatment was unjustified and discriminatory—particularly as a young mother, I feel I was unfairly targeted and publicly shamed without any cause.
This experience has left me feeling extremely uncomfortable and reluctant to return to your store. No one should be made to feel criminalised or judged simply for shopping with their child.
I would appreciate a thorough investigation into this matter, an apology for the way I was treated, and clarification on your staff conduct policies in similar situations. No customer should be made to feel the way I did during this visit.
I look forward to your response and resolution of...
Read moreDecent size Aldi supermarket with lots of choice. A toilet is on site too, sometimes it isn't working but across the road is public toilets. Plenty of parking available with spaces reserved just for those with children and mobility conditions. Not very many of these so look for a good time when it's quiet to avoid disappointment. Aldis takes both cards and cash for shopping. Has a great choice of houseware, cleaning, clothes and toy items in the middle of the shop. Trolleys require a coin for use however if I ever forget my trolley token, I take my house key off my key rings and use the circular end as a token. Do not forget to remove your key after shopping and this doesn't work if you haven't got a circular ended key. You also have to be careful as the end of the key sticks out. However I only do this in...
Read moreNot a bad store for an Aldi Store. Very large and spacious and is very easy to park outside. Was here to buy some oven liners from the central section. They sell very good oven liners. But has the same Aldi issues and the reason it's not a regular shop - boxes and workers stacking the shelves in the middle of the day. I also got annoyed by an assistant who was far from helpful. Whilst picking out the oven liners I found some glasses. They were thick ones, were small and looked like a child's glasses. I found an assistant and gave the glasses to him. He snatched them off me and shoved them in his pocket and then carried on working. Was very rude! Didn't ask me for any details etc. I hope the child...
