The Port Bar Portishead — Restaurant in England

Really disappointing- we had been recommended to go here and try the waffles - we parked at the lakeside gardens and walked to The Port - my mum is 82 and it was a good 10 minute walk so we thought we had given plenty of time - on the website it clearly says waffles served till 3:30pm - we got there just in time (or so we thought at 3:15) - we asked on going in if waffles were still being served and got advised that they were which was great news - we found a table and looked at the menu - my mum had chosen and couldn’t wait to have a waffle but we were then told that they had put all the waffle items away 5 minutes ago even though we had been told they were still serving them. At this time it was 3:19 so should have still been able to get them. My mum was so disappointed and as we are on holiday it’s not likely we will go again - don’t like giving a low review like this but just such a shame and disappointing, perhaps should think about changing your times on the...

Really disappointing takeaway tonight. I used to rave about this place, but their (takeaway) food has been on a slow, downward spiral for sometime now. I get the cost of ingredients has increased but it's now very evident that corners are being cut; the falafel salad is disappointingly small, the falafel was cold, a little soft and not freshly made like it used to be, there's no balsamic vinegar on the salad anymore, far fewer olives than you used to get, the salad leaves looked a couple of days old, etc. All the passion, care and attention that used to be put into their food is now gone. The pizza was delivered cold, not even lukewarm, which was disappointing and also with less topping than it used to have. And all of this for over 50% more than it used to cost less than 2 years ago. So myself and my partner had food here this evening, this is just a review based on my experience.

The food is absolutely spot on, however front of house and general management just seemed super poor.

We ordered drinks and waited 20 minutes and in the end had to remind 2 individual members of staff about our drinks, once they arrived we ordered food which we expected a wait time but was surprised it wasn’t too long.

After finishing my first slice of pizza our brownies had been delivered to the table…?? Not The worst problem but just added to the experience.

And then we were left waiting for the bill for 25 minutes even after asking for it twice.

All in all it wasn’t the worst place, food was great and highly recommend, the front of house was pretty shocking I have to admit.
