I popped in today to grab a takeaway coffee, unfortunately, they were all out of takeaway cups so I was seated.
Service - I was incredibly shocked by the poor service to the point of being stunned into silence. Whilst drinking my coffee I was informed that my table was needed and asked to move to the table at the back. I was happy to oblige as I could see they were busy and recognised that a singular person occupying a two-person table was not sensible. I collated my belongings and had to carry my own drink and find the table on my own. It turned out the table at the back was the same size, but away from the other patrons and next to the toilets. Why i was asked to move is beyond me, clearly there is something about my person which meant i should sit away from everyone. I have honestly never experienced that poor level of service before.
Coffee - Although the latte was presented in the correct glass, it was served on a plate and not a saucer so that the glass slide when returned to the plate. Typically a latte glass is presented on a saucer for functionality i.e. to avoid spillages, not aesthetics as this was. The coffee was a little too bitter for a latte. The steamed milk had too many large bubbles indicating the barista was inexperienced. This meant that rather than the silky smooth texture typical of latte's the milk was too dense and sat on top.
I would not recommend M on the Square. Instead, good service go to Hummingbirds Coffee Bar & Bistro which a minute walk away or for good coffee to Brackley Central Cafe which is at the top...

I have just been made to feel so uncomfortable. I took my 4yr and 2yr old for a treat hot chocolate this morning and I was asked to keep my 2yr old non- verbal son quiet and he was repeatedly told off for not sitting on his chair…so much so that I had our order boxed up and we left. He was actually very well behaved and I feel really upset by the way we were treated. (Luckily they still had a lovely time!) It’s a Monday morning, NOT a Friday night and we have every right to be in a cafe as the next person. Needless to say I won’t ever be returning.
Snotty attitude and discriminatory behaviour is not to be...
Read moreVisited on a Friday evening, it was quieter than I expected, at one point I think we were the only people there! The menu for nibbles is fairly limited, esp for a veggie and there were a couple of items not available which narrowed it down significantly, however the person who was serving us (not sure if manager or owner) went out of his way to make sure we had enough to eat and drink! It is such a lovely venue, I hope it's usually busier as its really nice to have somewhere a bit posh to go for drinks without having to go out of town! Will definitely visit again, as we had a really nice evening, I hope they have stocked up on camembert...
