Let's start with the positives. As a group of eight, we were seated at a table by a big window at the front of the pub, where the sun streamed in. It also gave us a great view of people enjoying their afternoon, with attentive service, tasty looking food and lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately for us, these people were in the restaurant across the road. Not the Red Lion. Our experience of the Red Lion started going down hill when we were read the extensive list of what wasn't available on the menu. This was after we'd been given menus and time to choose our meals. It may have been technology trying to warn me but when trying to order, the machine declined my cards 3 times before going through. Fast forward 45 minutes, as fast as that can be with four restless hungry kids, and we decided to enquire where our food was. "He's just working some things out", was the excuse. Another 15 mins or so we enquired again and we're told it was on its way now. Another long wait and the food finally arrived. And what a disappointment that was. Several meals (ribs) were inedible, others were bland and overcooked. Overall, a terrible experience.

We were really looking forward to trying out their new menu for Wings Wednesday. When we arrived, the waiters weren’t very attentive. We ordered plain and Korean flavoured, we were fairly sure they gave us Barbecue flavoured because it tasted nothing like Korean. We even double checked with the waiter and he reassured that it was Korean. We weren’t given any cutleries, plates. We had to keep asking and they only gave us one at a time, there were 4 of us! In comparison to the other table, they had much better service for some reason. Not sure if it was because it was a bigger party, they were served right away, explained to them differences between each flavours. We were VERY disappointed with the food and service.

Very friendly local pub. The staff and Scott, the owner, are lovely. Always try to have an ale on (usually Anchorman). The food from Blinky's kitchen is very good, home cooked and made and very well priced. The handmade burgers for a fiver can't be beaten. I can't remember having anything bad from there, and I've eaten there a lot. Daily specials. Everything about 5 or 10 pounds. There's a big garden out the back as well as a lot of courtyard seating, so great for the sunshine or the kids. I really don't get this thing where people post one star reviews because something was slightly not right for them, slightly miffed about one thing. One star should be the absolute, once in a lifetime, tell the grandkids about it, pit of an experience. This pub...
