Been meaning to visit Maddison’s for a while. Didn’t book in advance and went on a Monday late morning and got the last table. We sat in the Snug which was a nice little hideaway from the rest of the coffee shop, but it was far from snug..it was very cold and we kept our coats on. Menu is varied, everything from breakfasts to baked potatoes, waffles, crepes… good choice of delicious looking fresh baked slices too. Lots of drinks and delicious coffees to choose from too. Two of our meals came out together but we waited for the final meal a bit too long. The waitress noticed and chased it up by which time we had mostly ate our food as it was getting cold fast due to the draught in the room. Food was really nice (though katsu was very very spicy and isn’t meant to be). Hot chocolate was epic! Prices are reasonable. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, cannot fault them one bit. They were very apologetic about the cold in the snug, the delay on food and the lack of hand towels in the toilet. (So you can’t dry your hands). Will try this place again as the tray baked (in photo) looked amazing. If you’re driving, there is a big car park 5 minutes away or a retail park further down the hill with...

I was waiting and waiting and received a text off a friend saying we're through he back. So I went through to where my friends had been sat waiting. (3 of them, because the 4th couldn't make it). The lady came over and said you said 4 so I didn't know. Apparently they'd said to look out for me and even described me to her. Anyway, my friends had already ordered so I ordered mine when she eventually came to me. The drinks came. We all had hot chocolate. Which was okay but the handmade marshmallows have been replaced with store bought (apparently new ownership). The full English was okay but my friend wasn't happy with hers. The price was quite high for something of the...

We ordered a selection of share dishes including dirty fries, mac and cheese fries and cheesy nachos. All very good and highly recommend.
We followed the lunch with a couple of deserts. I had a scone cream and jam. However I prefer clotted cream and the scone was slightly dry. The chocolate brownie ordered was also excellent.
Atmosphere
Pleasant atmosphere and interesting decor. Log burner would be great in the winter months.
Service
Waiters were extremely friendly and welcoming. We had a young child with us, and they provided books for him to read!
Would highly recommend tasking a visit if...
