Maidenhead Spice — Restaurant in England

Apart from literally being in the middle of the bath road, this place could also be described as a middle of the road Indian restaurant. There’s nothing particularly outstanding about it and nothing particularly terrible. The decor is a little dated but it’s comfortable and adequate. The service was ok, we had to ask a few times for extra plates and cutlery after some had been taken away after starters and not replaced before the main, but it arrived without too much fuss. The food itself was good without being great and memorable. We ordered a meat starter platter, of which the chicken tikka was very good, but then he lamb was a little tough and chewy. For main we tried a few different veg and meat curried like lamb jalfrezi and chicken masala. The curry we’re again ok without being amazing. Have been going to Maidenhead spice since its days as the ocean village and have to say that I struggle to recognise the restaurant described in certain negative reviews.

We have taken friends and family members to Maidenhead spice and they have been hugely impressed by the quality of food on offer. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes sub continent food, I grew up amongst Indian families and my palate is far from bland…if you ask the waiters they will temper, even relatively chilli oriented dishes to your taste.

The lamb chops, jhinga prawns are notable on the starters menu, whilst the Jalfrezi and South Indian chilli/garlic are very spicily rewarding on the mains. Service has been mostly excellent, but can be a tad ‘laid back’ on less...

My usual choice was closed according to uber eats, and to be honest i am so glad it was as i have now found this gem of a restaurant. The food was delivered hot and is probably the tastiest takeaway i have ever eaten. The Tandoori Chicken was beautifully presented and perfectly charred which added to the flavour, First time i have had a takeaway where the chicken actually was flame grilled in some way. And the portions where massive so left very full afterwards.
