Gone massively down hill since the greyhound closed. Massive queue with no one knowing who is before who, really understaffed, you have 2 or 3 people glass collecting with only 2 behind the bar and there is still glasses and plates everywhere! Went in on a Thursday evening and there was a massive spillage on the floor right by the front door, when we left 2 hours later it was still there! I have been there before on a Saturday night and they served me and my friend a beer at last orders, and then 10 minutes later were standing in front of us telling us to down our drinks and get out. That would be bad, but it gets worse! When the barman was waiting forus to "down our drinks, with other people in the bar, a table behind us shouted over, "you could just leave you know!" Turns out they were staff members on a night off! Wow. So much for responsible drinking and customer service! I have more horror stories of recent, like their joke of a cider festival, but this review is long enough. The beer isn't even that cheap anymore. AVOID THIS PLACE NOW DAYS! This is all coming from a massive weatherspoons fan, I love their pubs..... just not this one.
EDIT: I used to be a spoons fan but the owner and the pure state of the pubs now days, there's just no...
Read moreWe used to visit this place for a drink and food and always had a good experience. Last Sunday while we were taking a walk with our dog, as it was sunny we decided to have a drink on their terrace, we sat down, ordered through the App and once we were eating we were approached by a member of staff to tell us that we could finish our meal, but we should leave afterwards, because they don't allow dogs in their premises. He was actually very respectful and we could tell was uncomfortable with the situation. The thing here is that we can understand restaurant policies and all that, but for us, it is very unfortunate that a place with such a large outdoor area (we were nowhere near the entrance), has this "no dogs allowed on the premises" policy, as almost every place in Maidenhead allows them even indoors. I'm sure the easiest and quickest answer is going to be, well, why don't you go with your dog to those places? And I don't think in 2022 that question even deserves an answer. We will obviously not be returning to this place and will not recommend it. I have read that they also have a "no children" policy after certain time, so it seems to us that their restrictions are more important to them than providing a friendly and...
Read moreHad a very strange experience in the bear tonight. I was at the bar and tried to order drinks only to be told by the young greasy, with red dyed hair man behind the bar that I was slurring my words and that he would not serve me? I would completely support this being enforced if I was in fact drunk or even merry, but it was quite the contrary. I had only had one drink! and to be fair at 50 years of age I feel that I am perfectly capable of moderating how much I drink! I spoke to the barman next to him and he understood my explanation of what had gone on, but he suggested did not want to get involved. At least we can confirm that he does not have a problem with hearing! It was very embarrassing being turned away from the bar in this manner and completely inappropriate. I asked the guy for his name as I would like to discuss this with the management, I was told that he is Jack and that he was the management!! What a great representation of management for Wetherspoons! I have been sending my customers to this pub for breakfast and lunch for years whilst they are waiting for me to complete my work, well no more. Nobody should be directed to a place so...
