Came to Malik's Gerrard Cross for Easter lunch buffet, as we have had good experiences with their buffet before. They were about 20 minutes late putting the food out, but despite this the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. The manager admonished us as we were originally booked as a table of 4, but two of our number had to cancel at the last minute. He said "You should have told me, as we put you on a bigger table, and now I have to cancel your others off the system." We definitely would have told him had the restaurant not been completely empty except for one other couple. True enough, but this manager's rudeness was only getting started. He announced after 40 minutes that the buffet would be closing at 1:30. A member of the other couple in the restaurant asked him why the buffet was not staying open until the advertised 2pm, and he said "...you have had 90 minutes to eat.." - which was not true due to the delayed start. The final straw came when my wife went to the loo and used the handicapped toilet as she did not want to walk up the 3 steps to the main ladies' toilet due to a torn ligament in her knee. This manager told her: "You used the wrong toilet." She had to explain her injury to him, and he still replied: "You should have asked me.." Really ? Thats just enough to ensure we never return to this Malik's - ever. You may feel entitled to be rude and treat others as your inferiors, but you can't do that here and keep customers. No wonder the place was empty - great food, but...

However, he was rushing us along throughout our meal. We asked him questions about the food and he was being very quick and blunt. When I was looking at the drinks to order he said 'ok quickly quickly'. We were waiting a long time for our food. I asked to order another drink later on and he said 'oh are you ready to go' I was shocked and said no. He then gave us the bill and said 'ok i need this table back'. (We still had full drinks) my partner grabbed another waiter and said the original waiter was rude and rushing us. The rude one came over and said 'you can talk to me you know'. The waiter returned with 2 allergy menus ( with NO PRICES marked) so when we questioned the price of the monkfish which was double the price of the other curries, they accepted the mistake but did NOT take this off the bill and I had to request for service charge to be taken off. He explained this was normal so I had to advise him that I attend central London restaurants all the time and this doesnāt happen there. š
The food is outstanding. We waited a long time for it to arrive and when I asked for another chapatti, I waited an equally long time.
Great food but hugely let down but service and service staff.
