Masala Swanage — Restaurant in England

I've always had a good Indian meal here. Good portions and tasty food. It's a pleasant place to stop and eat.

There's a decent number of options and as a veggie I have plenty to choose from too.

Sometimes the service has been a little grumpy, but normally it's good, so I certainly recommend visiting.

How I Mark. I may mark differently to some other reviewers, some might see this as harsh, others may see it as fair. But here's how I look at it:

5 star - WOW. I want to go back and look forward to doing so. They delivered everything expected and more. The 'more' is normally about the service or attitude of the staff. 4 star - GOOD. They delivered everything I wanted and a bit more. I recommend them and would go back. 3 star - OK. They delivered what I expected, I would go back if I needed to, although don't currently plan on doing so. 2 star - Not very good. I didn't get what I expected and the service wasn't good. I don't recommend this place. I might get dragged back here, although will always try to avoid it 1 star - RUBBISH. Don't go there, I certainly won't go there again. It’s about the food right? and this how I roll. I order for the family but they barely get a look in. I order fairly hot dishes, give them the meagrest of portions because they’re too small to enjoy (1&4 year old), pile my plate up and then eat the remains for breakfast and lunch the following day! Unfortunately the missus likes it as well, so I begrudgingly share…some! Why? Because I’m an a*hole, but mainly because the food is absolutely lush. I’m not one for sitting in Indian restaurants, but if you’re averse to washing plates and can’t afford a dishwasher then it’s the same as most; comfy. We had a takeaway on 9 August 22 as a treat for my 16 Yr old daughter who was really looking forward to it. We went to the restaurant and we were greeted by a rather blunt and slightly rude lady who was not at all friendly towards us. We ordered and waited then took the food to where we were staying. My daughter found the chunks of chicken in her korma very dry and the rice awful. I tried it and agreed. The sauce was very good shame about the rice and chicken. My food was OK but a bit pricey for what I got. The chips were expensive for small portion which was disappointing. Poppadoms were good and best I have had in a while.
