McDonald's — Restaurant in England

Staff are friendly enough BUT it really has been taken over by Just Eat who seem to take priority over customers dining in the restaurant or using the takeaway. The amount of tables being taken up by Just Eat was mad and at such a busy time, really Just Eat need a bit on their own and not actually being in the restaurant and to see the dirty Just Eat bags dumped on the tables where people are going to be eating is terrible, granted that there is a person clearing and cleaning tables but they didn't approach where the Just Eat bags were / had been.... Did somebody say Just Eat? I don't think so. Update 28th July 2022. All change - maybe not for the better? So, first visit today after the refit, so it appears that they have added more self service kiosks and now the pick up point for meals is now on the right, more or less when you get in the restaurant, but people are ordering at the kiosks directly to the left of the pick up point so basically you can't move with people ordering, people waiting and people trying to get through to the toilets at the back of the restaurant. I think when I went in there were about 10 people waiting, it did take a while to get served and when I picked it up it was wrong but I couldn't be bothered taking it back (I was takeaway). Yes it was busy, it was about 1.15 PM & the kids were off and they have only been open a week so you can expect some teething trouble. Gone are the nice cushioned seats to be replaced by hard chairs and seats, maybe they don't want you to stay too long? We have seen people nursing a cup of coffee for over an hour so maybe this is Maccy D's way of sorting the problem. I've added a new photo of the new pick up point. Also you CAN still order at the counter it's on the right, so they are not forcing you to use a Kiosk, also if you have got the app you can still earn points even when paying at a till, there is a QR code on the app. Good luck, but are you still...

I think this is the best McDonald’s restaurant I have ever been to, and I have been to many McDonald’s. The decor is always contemporary and nice to sit in and amongst, it is always nice and clean and the staff always very helpful. It is really easy to place your order here, there are automated ordering machines, order from your phone at the table, or traditional counter-based ordering. This place is open 24 hours and has a very easy to use drive-through. The only minor issue is the car park is somewhat small, but across the road there is a massive carpark which always has spaces in. I can honestly say also this is the only fast food restaurant that I have been to where the food, without exception, always looks like what is in the picture. The food always arrives promptly and there are staff on hand to tidy away the mess as soon as you finish. Sometimes I sit in this restaurant in awe and wonder if perhaps this is a flagship restaurant used to illustrate how good McDonald’s can be, I don’t know if it’s too much to hope for but it all McDonald’s restaurants can be as good as this one, we would all be living in a better world. In short, if you are ever visiting Chester, along with a Roman walls, the Victorian shops, this McDonald’s should also be on your to-see list. Highly recommended!

UPDATED January 2024: For the last 10 visits (drive through) and deliveries from this place, each and every time, there has been at least 2 or 4 missing item - absolutely ridiculous!!! The care to attention of the staff has plummeted - I’m paying for things which I’m not receiving. Very very poor service.

UPDATE OCT 2024: Just did a drove through for 5 meals, everything single one of the drinks was not given to me!!!! Into realised after I left, had to drive back and collect. Terrible...

Absolutely terrible. Finished a long shift went to the drive through on the way home with 2 other colleagues. Made 3 separate orders, the speaker stopped working so we went to the pay window to order the last meal. We paid for the food got to the second window got all the bags of food. We then checked the bags and realised 6 nuggets where missing gave the very unhelpful girl the bag back, we where told to park up and the manager came over and asked what are problem was ! Shocking. Explain once again we where missing the nuggets to be told the girl at the window saw us hide the nuggets. Absolutely outrageous. Just trying to get some food after a long night shift to be accused of stealing and lying by staff and management is terrible. Eventually we got the nuggets but the entire bag of food was still not given back. A very reluctant shaun finally have us the meal we ordered and paid for. By this time everything was cold. We where embarrassed and angry we just left. No apologies just accusations. Terrible customer service. Always check...
