We booked a room as we were going to a Military Veterans Christmas Party that was being held around the corner in a local pub. Had booked the room through a booking app and had requested a room with a bath as I require one due to a health condition. Was advised that would be no problem and they would make sure we were allocated one.
Unfortunately when we turned up d given the room key we were given a room with only a shower. The hotel was also very busy. Fortunately the lady on the desk when she looked at my reservation saw that I had indeed asked for a room with a bath and was promised one eventually found us the last room with one and transferred us over. Hence I am not marking them down as it was rectified quickly. We don't book any hotel rooms without a bath That's how important it is to us.
Once in our new room we found it to be spacious and well laid out. It was also spotlessly clean and at the back of the hotel so nice and quiet. Was also nice to see that they provided a non slip bath mat so that you didn't he an accident slipping in the bath.
The bed was lovely and comfortable with nice linen and good blackout blinds and curtains on the window.
The bar was reasonably stocked for most people. However I don't drink and I can't drink Pepsi Max or diet drinks as I react to certain sweetners. As my body can't deal with them. There were not many drinks behind the bar that I could have as the drinks on the pump all had the sweetners in that I can't have. I ended up having to have a J2O, as that was the only drink with sweetner that my body can deal with. Just made sure I took headache tablets to help me deal with the side effects from drinking it. The bar staff have said in future when we stay there let them know what I can drink and they will get some of the drinks in for me. The reason they don't normally stock the drinks is because of the sugar tax.
So if you are thinking about staying in Grimsby then it is worth Staying at this Hotel. You will be well looked after. Also if you have dietary needs around your drinks let them know and they will try to accommodate.
Thank you for your hospitality and looking after us during our stay. Wishing you all a Prosperous New...
Read moreWe booked Millfields Hotel for my mums wake on 2nd February 2023 and although the food was lovely, there was no where near enough for the 70 quest that we paid for. I make more than that for a Christmas buffet. There were an assortment of sandwiches, homemade sausage rolls, scampi, potato wedges, and that was it for the savoury selection, well the cakes were even worse, there were scones (they were dry) with jam on and of all things, squirty cream, you would think that for £980 you would get fresh or clotted cream. There was the poppy seed cake loaf thing and a strawberry coconut loaf, that was nice but they were both sliced so thin that you couldn't pick it up as a slice. I would advice anyone to think twice before booking here. The room was lovely and as I said we paid for 70 people, oh but they only have seating for 60, yet still very happy to take money for 70. They did find 3 more chairs. The tea and coffee was very nice, except we had to keep asking for it to be refilled and for more cups. I did say to the woman behind the bar, if they were bringing anymore food our and she replied no that's it. I said that it was poor and no where near enough. And she replied you had a lot more that 70 guest, we didn't as we had 65 at the Crematorium and they didn 't all go to the wake. I have emailed millfields but they have chosen to ignore me. So overall very disappointed, the guest couldn't believe that we paid £980 for what little food and not enough seating, or made a difficult day much worse. It made it seem like I had a cheapscape send off...
Read moreWe have stayed at Millfields twice now, the most recent time being. Saturday 19th March. The evening staff are very lovely and nothing is too much trouble. The bar area is beautifully clean with a very well stocked bar. We paid £110 for B&B on Saturday. Our room was large and very clean and quiet. However, the bathroom was not very clean at all. The towels looked clean but they were smelly. The facilities list stated toiletries included - the soap dispensers had only been half filled and were clearly old as the pump tops did not work. The toilet roll had been neatly folded on the opening sheet but there was hardly any toilet roll left on it and there was no more in the room. The cleaner was aware the roll was nearly empty because like I said, the leading sheet was neatly folded. The coffee/ tea facilities in the room were inadequate. There was not enough milk for two people to have two hot drinks and there was only one sachet of hot chocolate; I’d have rather it hadn’t been available if there wasn’t going to be enough provided for both occupants. I realise I could have quite easily asked for more toilet roll and milk etc, but since we paid £110 for the room, I felt that I actually shouldn’t have had to ask, especially for toilet roll. When we stayed a few weeks ago, we enjoyed it so much, we booked a return visit. I’m not sure that last nights visit was worth £110 so possibly won’t...
