We ate at fan on Wednesday 4th august 2021 and when we arrived there was a nice atmosphere and the place was busy but worryingly out of all the tables, there was only one table eating! With it being an all you can eat buffet, u would expect the food to be leaving the kitchen every few minutes! We asked what size the bottles of ciders where, at £4.30, we wanted to make sure it was a fair size! The waiter didn’t know what cider was never mind the size of the bottles! Anyway, we proceeded to order the drinks! We then ordered the food, around 6 small starter dishes for the table to share! The waiter was scribbling down the order on the smallest order pad I’ve ever seen and when I politely asked him why he doesn’t just write the number of the selected meals down with how many portions we wanted, he replied that the chefs were not English and they didn’t understand the numbers! This sounded crazy but ha ho that’s the way they have been told to take orders! I personally felt it would have saved a lot of time and been far easier for the kitchen to understand. Whilst waiting for our order to come we watched the 2 large round tables behind us leave half way through their meal which was around 8 people, after receiving parts of their order and the wrong food after a long time! We then received the spring rolls, we waited 5 minutes and it became clear that the other 5 dishes where still being prepared! No problem, we ate the spring rolls, after another 10 minutes 1 more dish arrived, and we then ordered a couple more dishes expecting them to be processed at some point but we were pre-empting the wait! I would say there was around 45 mins to an hour between our first dish coming out and the last one even though it was on the same order! We arrived at 7.30 and this was around 8.30. We ordered main courses of lamb rice, Singapore rice noodles, and the teriyaki chicken skewers! The rice arrived at 9.25, the skewers at 9.35, and the rice noodles never came. We left at 10pm, although the food I have to say was very nice, it was a grilling 2.5 hours which should have been around an hour or just over. The organisation was shocking! We eventually cancelled the rice noodles around 9.50pm with the waitress who never went through to the kitchen to pass the message on, probably because of the grief she had received throughout the evening from other customers as she was in tears and hiding in the corner, the poor girl! We then wanted to pay by card where we was told it was cash only or we could stand around the bar area and do a bank transfer! Absolute crazy and a shame because this restaurant could do very well with a little tweaking and a bit more organisation! We will give it another go because the food was nice but it won’t be for another 3-4 months, and I anticipate that when we do go midweek again, there will be so many people that have left unhappy that we may have the place to ourselves or it will...
Read moreWe booked a table for 8 pm. First impressions of the place was 'really scruffy' we got shown to our seats, the table had a dirty sticky plastic vinyl table cloth on, eventually after approx 10 minutes they came to wipe it!
We had no clue it was "eat all you like buffet" (as there was no buffet to be seen anywhere) and nobody explained or offered to tell us the procedure on ordering
So we ordered the duck and pancakes for a starter and our main meal. They all arrived at the same time! Bit strange, as usually you have your starter and then they serve your main otherwise its sat there getting cold. We politely asked if they could bring our main meal out after we had eaten our starters. Over an hour later we still hadn't had anyone come to us not even to clear the dirty plates away. After a very lengthy wait we decided to give up. We went to pay for what we had had (our drinks and starters) No apologies were given and to add insult to injury they tried to charge us for the food that we hadn't even had.
Upon leaving we noticed a member of staff filling his car up with take away deliveries (so they're obviously far too busy dealing with those as a priority and not looking after their customers in the restaurant.
A visit to the toilet was gross, they were filthy, it looked like they had never been cleaned for months! Not sure how they've passed their hygiene inspection?! Overall a terrible experience.... sadly we won't...
Read moreLet's start with the fact that the place is unsuitable for strollers and people with disabilities. You have to carry a pram up the stairs which are narrow and if someone parked their car in front of the premises it's hard to squeeze through. Upon entering the premises, this place immediately throws you away with its dirt and high level of wear and tear. The carpet is dirty and worn like it's a hundred years old. This place looks like ugly hole for complete renovation. The floor was so dirty and sticky that our shoes were glued onto it. Despite this, encouraged by the photos of the food, we decided to try some dishes from the menu. Unfortunately, the food was terrible: burnt, smelly and below any standards. We were with one year old baby, so we didn't want to argue a lot and make a scene. We ate only dumplings, which were not grilled as described, but deep fried, and some soup. We returned the rest of food as it was uneatable. Nevertheless, we were demanded to pay the full amount. When we paid £10 instead, we heard racial slurs from the staff. It's our worst experience with the 'restaurant' ever. I would never go to this place again, because it doesn't hold any standards, the food is so nasty I would never give it to my dog and the service is disgusting and aggressive - not suitable for anyone, especially when you come with a child and want just to enjoy...
