The White Hart — Restaurant in England

Gave Smokehouse a try last night on recommendation of a friend who was with me in a group of four. The service was so slow we nearly left, no burnt ends, no brisket. We eventually got someone to take our order, then after another wait we get told there is only one half rack of Jacobs ladder ribs available, so we have to change out order. We were promised some extra food and drinks for our inconvenience we eventually got one round of drinks and a measly bit of pulled pork. The reason for going to Smokehouse was the Burnt Ends, the brisket and the beef ribs which had been recommended by my friend, he was most embarrassed. I would have thought we’d have been offered a discount on the bill but we got charged the full amount for lousy service and average food served by very poor staff. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE, it is overpriced and very poor quality and decor leaves you thinking who the hell put this mishmash together. We all felt embarrassment for our friend, we were to go somewhere else last night but it got too late so disappointed about that too, thankyou Smokehouse you’re never getting our custom again, what a waste of time. Really looking forward to going to this place however we were very disappointed . It began with my booking for 9 being wrongly recorded so were told we would have to vacate the table by time a party they had actually booked properly arrived. This meant that we we weren't offered dessert as we were asked to move from the table as our main course plates were cleared. The starter of burnt ends was too tough to eat, so 50% of those were left. The chicken wings went down well though. The main courses were not good and of the 9 of us only one thought the meal was nice. Everything tasted purely of the sauce, none of the meats involved were distinguishable. The one tiny piece of lettuce inside my burger was withered and slimey. The majority of our party left at least 50% of their meals. One positive side, the staff were polite and helpful. I have been informed by one of my party this morning that she & her son are unwell this morning, which of course could be a coincidence however none of us will be taking the chance again to risk finding out for sure. Great looking place, great covid secure welcome (asked to scan app, tables spaced out, lots of disinfectant), priced fairly.

The issue is the food, we had two placed of the smoked BBQ where you can pick your meats, some of the food had started to go cold, but you can tell it was put on the plate warm as the top was cold, but the middle was warm. I think the food was put on the pass or out for the server to pick up and was left for some time. The brisket was warmish, but the ribs and pulled pork were turning cold,

The side salad was all wilted, which again leans to the point that the food had been left at the pass / heat lamps for some time.

With all good American BBQ, you have to have the "slaw" (coleslaw), i was extremely disappointed with the store bought coleslaw, as i would have expected an American style crunchy slaw and not some UK tesco version full of mayo.

Onion rings were ok, not too sure if these were home made or not...

Don't get the milkshakes either.

Not worth coming too, I don't know if this is a one off, but next time i will be going to Red's True BBQ in Leeds (good food is worth...
