Motto Pizza & Grill — Restaurant in England

New review, old review from about a year ago further down. Sadly, the last handful of orders we've had from here have been a bit hit or miss, what's happened guys? Used to be reliably great every time which is why we were loyal and would always go motto for pizza, burgers and wraps. Has dropped to a 3* in my books.

Had two chips, some came in a bag and the others came in a foam tub. Both the chips tonight were all compacted together, soggy, undercooked and cold, the only saving grace was there was a LOT of chips, perhaps that was their downfall being stuffed into the bag & tub and perhaps having been sat for several minutes left to steam away as the outer layer were all stuck to the paper bag. Had to put them in my air fryer for several minutes to revive them a bit. Perhaps they couldn't breath as I know when food steams away in a delivery pouch it can go soggy. They were always great when they were cooked to a nice golden colour, a good amount of chips spice and in a cardboard box able to move around a little The kids pizza was burnt to a crisp on the crust and crumbled and snapped at the lightest grip, and I tried the middle after kid decided they didn't want it, and from memory the pizza I've had in the past, this really didn't compare, it didn't thave that authentic hand made taste like it used to, I'm guessing it was an old dough as it had that old dough / not at its best taste and wasn't risen very well and I've seen that a lot when in old pizza delivery jobs. I'll probably give your pizzas another try as they were usually VERY impressive even for me who's got several years experience in pizza delivery chains, but this one was very much one that should have failed the quality check test at the end and have been remade using recently prepared dough. The nuggets needed a bit longer in the air fryer too.

I know there's always bad days no matter the place, so we will try again in future, but If it seems to be a regular occurrence then it may deter us even as regulars :/

On the upside it came in good time, and there was a lot of chips.

This meal is saying 3/10, usually though it's always like 7-9 / 10 and some of the pizzas I've had in the past have rivalled ones I've had in Italy.

(Old 5* review from about a year ago) Out of the pizza places I've tried in pocklington, motto takes the #1 spot. I'm yet to try Bella vita but I like the pizza from motto so much I like a safe option ha. Has been our primary place for pizzas and burgers. The gourmet burgers are as good as some actual burger restaurants. When the chips come in a cardboard box or greaseproof paper packet they are so good and crispy and that chip spice is addictive 🤤. The pizzas that I've had have all been so good, especially the Texas BBQ on a thin base. After trying their pizza for first time, we stopped ordering dominos for the pizza takeaway night ha.

The new pizza rolls are a bit greasy but SO tasty, the cheesy garlic bread is always a winner, and the gourmet burgers are all so good, and I've not had a bad pizza yet and been ordering once a month for a few years. Only thing I could say for improvement is when chips come in a polystyrene tub, they sweat and go a bit soggy, cardboard boxes or sealed paper bags keep them crispy...

First off we are really understanding people, and we get that days such as Good Friday mean delays as it’s going to be super busy. Our food was an hour late so I called, the guy on the phone was quite dismissive, wouldn’t really let me speak and just said we’re really busy and running about an hour late; no worries. Another hour passed and we called again, this time I spoke to someone and after her listening to me on more detail it was apparent the order was forgotten or missed. Annoying but ok; she advised it would be there asap. 30 minutes later (2.5 hours late) our food arrived; half of it cold and requiring microwaving. Food was ok but by this point we’d both lost interest as it was nearly 11pm. Likely won’t use them again.

I’ve heard good things so was excited to try it out! I don’t eat meat so usually order Veggie Pizza and Jalapeño Bites from another Pock take out so ordered equivalent from Motto and unfortunately I was underwhelmed. I got 5 tiny balls for £4.7, it’s £4.2 for 6 at the competitor and they are more substantial. Pizza sadly wasn’t any better either, was drier and had less toppings.
