How the ice cream tastes here I cannot say because at the end I didn't buy any,the reason for that is the customer service not exactly to my expectation. So after 20 minutes in the queue I had quite simple request, ordered ice cream for my children and husband and last for myself I asked for large cone with 4 scoops only to be told they can do maximum 3 scoops, because they don't have it in the menu. I said they had price for one scoop,so they can just count that times 4, another person was called who told me same thing.I mean, what problem is to sell a customer one extra scoop. It's not like I want it for free. I asked to put it in the large pot and add cone to it....not possible. I cannot get my head around this logic. So at the end I went to the home made ice cream next door, where I got what I asked for without...
Read moreExcellent - lovely ice cream served by staff who are nice and friendly. First class! Ice cream is really made on the premises and tastes really good. Parkgate as a tourist destination on the Wirral peninsula has always been a popular place. Stand by to queue outside Nicholls "Famous Ice Cream Shop" for your ice cream sometimes, especially during summer months, however servings of cornets, tubs, of ice creams are made quickly and efficiently. I find, a visit to Nicholls Famous Ice Cream Shop of Parkgate is a distinct pleasure.
They have recently given the shop a bit of a makeover which is simply splendid. Yes please visit Parkgate (on the Wirral) and like so many other people look out for Nicholls Ice Cream shop right on the front (together with fantastic view across the Dee...

Don't get me wrong, the ice cream we had was nice but it was far from the best ice cream I've ever tasted. Sadly it lacked richness of flavour, was more icy than creamy smooth in texture and didn't have any bits in it. Many of the flavours had very bright colours, almost as if they were artificially coloured. It wouldve been nice if they had ice cream with bits in like chocolate flakes/chips caramel etc. The ice cream didnt extend down into the cone and was just scooped onto the top, meaning it can easily fall off the cone. Recommended to try if you're in the area but far from award winning quality in my opinion, despite apparently being...
