We only had a coffee so I would not normally write a review based solely on that, but I feel obliged to share this unusual experience. Smiling welcoming staff. Coffee took an unusually long time to arrive considering no food ordered, (but the staff were very smiley when they brought it). There was no loo paper in either of the ladies' toilets I visited, and when they were told this, they only put paper in one toilet, so the other was still left empty, even when they knew of the problem. The toilets, although not actually dirty, were not that clean either; there was some scum around the sink area, (something I'm not used to seeing in a decent restaurant toilet). It looked like they were cleaning just enough to get by. Maybe we caught them on a very bad day, though it wasn't exceptionally busy (though not exceptionally quiet either), and there were 3 staff there, so I don't think that was probably the case. I personally won't eat there the next time I visit Parkgate, as I feel more comfortable eating in a place where I see evidence of higher standards in all parts of any eatery, including toilets. I think we either visited on a bad day, where no cleaning had happened, or many people don't mind a bit of dirt as long as they don't notice it, as the place was half full...
Read moreIâll start by saying we eat out a lot - particularly for breakfast/brunch. Iâve had my own multi award winning restaurant and ran many others in Liverpool and on The WirralâŚ
This place is very very good.
Spoke to the manager at the end and asked about the chef. You can tell from the attention to detail there is a top chef at the helm. The manager told me theyâre from a restaurant background. You can really tell. It was sublime.
I know working in hospitality, you canât please everyone and some people will go here and not appreciate it and say âI just wanted a bog standard breakkie.â People will always find something to moan about. But this is fantastic food done well.
The restaurant itself is an excellent spot, bright and perfect for people watching along the front. Some big tables and booths for larger parties as well as bar stools looking out and smaller tables upstairs.
If youâre contemplating going here but having to choose between one or two other places in the vicinityâŚ.honestly, choose here. You wonât be...
Read moreThey need more staff!! Can't comment about the food as I didn't get the chance to have any. Although I'm sure it would have been nice. Went about 2pm on Wednesday and it was fairly busy which is always a good sign. We were asked to find a free table upstairs and were given a menu and that they would be about 10 minutes. We waited and waited. Others were served food, and an order was taken from another couple. We waited some more. A couple on the next table told us that while they had given their order, they had been waiting ages and had still not received it. We eventually gave up and left and sought refreshments elsewhere. I'm said it at the start, but they...
