We'd spotted a couple of branches of Nile's as we've been driving about on holiday and so decided to drop in for breakfast and to get some cakes for afternoon snacks.

Our decision to have breakfast there was influenced by the sign saying two full breakfasts for £11 (a saving of £2). Maybe it's a Cornwall thing but a single portion of every component, apart from slices of bacon, of which you do get two, is not what I'd call a Full Breakfast, certainly not for what was being charged.

To get what we'd consider a full breakfast back home we had to plump for the Mega Breakfast option, which pushed the price up to £7.50 a portion, so £4 more for the two of us than we'd originally expected to be paying.

As this was a family visit we of course had to buy breakfast for our kids and while there is a child's section of the menu, there isn't a breakfast option there. This meant we ended up getting our youngest a "full breakfast" so that she had a bit of everything like mummy and daddy. For some reason we weren't asked if we wanted the eggs fried or scrambled and were all given scrambled.

The choice of drinks on offer was somewhat lacking too. Other than milk shakes, and cola/lemonade there wasn't anything child oriented. I asked if there were any fruit juices or the like for kids, thinking maybe they might have dilute squash or Fruit Shoots. In reply I was told they could give the girls orange juice. I thought they meant orange squash, but no, it was actual orange juice, a whole pint each for an 8 year old and a 3 year old.

Frankly this seems somewhat strange to me. While an 8 year old might be happy with actual orange juice, younger children can be hit and miss (not to mention the worry of them managing to drink from a pint glass...). Fortunately today our youngest decided she was going to have a go at polishing off a while pint of OJ... She didn't manage it all but she wasn't in a mood because she was thirsty.

For what it was we ended up with the food was well cooked and the cakes were nice. However, the breakfast portion size for the price knocks this review down to...

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!

At Niles Cafe Pentewan Road Saint Austell PL25 5BU

Ordered coffee and cakes to take away, I asked the young man who was serving me if it's ok to leave the cakes there whilst I go to the toilet he said ofcourse.

As I was in the toilet I heard a lady shouting my order, I rushed out the toilet, and went over to the coffees and she said I shouted out your coffees twice.. I said sorry I was in the toilet.

There was a que of around 5/6 people (with families) so I waited for few minutes and tried to get the young man's attention to grab my cakes and leave, he was busy so I thought to save the ques I will go ask the lady who done the coffees (the coffee machine was not on at this point) as I approached her and she looked at me she turned the coffee machine on and shouted I mean Shouted at the top of her voice!!! I CANT HEAR YOU THE COFFEE MACHINE IS REALLY LOUD!! I was shocked and just said back ok no worries and she SHOUTED I CANT HEAR YOU, YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT I CANT HEAR YOU, I CANT HEAR YOU. The whole of the cafe was also looking shocked! JUST BIZARRE!!!

Another young man, came over and took over and I said all I wanted was to grab my cakes and go and even he looked shocked at how the lady acted.

The two young men was very friendly, helpful with good customer service.

This woman is the RUDEST person I have EVER came across in my life!

She should not be working there with that fail attitude, very very poor customer service, clearly can't handle a que of 5...

Found a table easy. Ordered our meal at 10:15am at 11am we was still waiting for our meals, went to the counter to see what was going on as people that had come in after us were being served quickly and sharp was told the receipt hadn’t printed properly so the kitchen didn’t know we had ordered food? Waited a further 10 minutes other people were still being served that had come in after us so had the feeling we were at the bottom of the list we started to feel so awkward at this point I was deciding whether to just get a refund and forget it, our food finally arrived the gentleman apologised which was fine but they could have offered us another drink as an apology seeing we had been there for so long we had finished our drinks but they didn’t. I then fell ill so asked if we could have our breakfast to take away as I didn’t want to leave it I hardly ate anything and paid and waited long enough for it, we were handed a pasty bag? I have been to this particular branch before and wasn’t impressed by the young ladies attitude then. Safe to say I won’t be going back there...

Bought a couple of pastys from this place on the way back from Pentewan holiday park. I was very tempted to buy 12 for the price of 10 but felt guilty putting all that weight on for my triathlons so sadly I had to decline. Weather was WET all weekend and the football comp was cancelled due to Covid so the lads played a couple of friendly insted.

We stopped by for some pastries and drinks. We ordered latte, sausage roll, and the largest donut we have ever seen. Service was friendly, and coffee was delicious, as was the sausage roll. Unfortunately, the donut was very oily otherwise, this would have been a 5 🌟 review.
