UPDATE TO RESPOND TO THE OWNER: Thank you for your response.
Just to be clear, having paid around Ā£50, a 10% discount would have been inconsequential ā it wouldnāt have changed our experience or our opinion. While you claim to take constructive criticism on board, your tone reads more defensive than receptive, which only reinforces our original concerns. We had read your other reviews, which is why we had travelled all the way from bodmin to try your food.
The server was really sweet and the poppadums/chutney thing was nice too - that being said, the momoās were really a let down and hereās hoping you can see beyond the 10% discount and take our feedback onboard.
We appreciate the reply and wish you the best with your future diners.
Original review: Having experienced a lot of indian and nepalese restaurents so far, this was unfortunately one of the worst few ones food wise.
We ordered 2 chicken momos and 1 starter lamb momo. Chicken momos could not have been more dryer. The lamb starter momos were good so we ordered another main lamb momo but they ruined the second lot of lamb momos.
We tried cancelling the lamb main but they said that it was ready and would not be able to cancel.
The person who served us and the owners seem quite friendly and nice, so the staff is good but food is a massive disappointment.
We also ordered a gurkha beer which we enjoyed.
If you are an indian, nepalese or anyone who knowās how indian or nepalese dishes should taste like, I would not recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAte in here recently and was left very underwhelmed. The food was less than average. We eat enough of this kind of food to know that each type of dish looks different from another. Everything we ordered could have been the same thing; meat sat in brown oily sauce. The taste did nothing to change my mind. The staff were pleasant enough as was the service provided but didnāt give any kind of impression that they had been trained properly or knew what they were doing. There was confusion over what 0% lager was or if they even had it and the person who took our order couldnāt tell us anything about the various dishes because she hadnāt eaten them. The cleanliness was questionable. The person who was waiting our table saw something on one of the plates and decided to wipe it with her hand, then the sleeve of her jumper before setting it down in front of my husband. There is not sufficient ventilation. During our meal we noticed that the air was filled with a haze and my eyes were stinging. It was coming straight out from the kitchen, and filtering through to the restaurant seating area. The floor tiles near the kitchen, stairs and toilet area are dangerously slippery. They werenāt wet, they were greasy! Our clothes smelled strongly of cooking oil and a week later it still lingered on our coats. The decor is shabby and there is no ambiance or atmosphere with subtle lighting etc. Felt a little like sitting in a waiting room. Over all not a great experience and left us wishing we hadnāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered via JustEat app for a collection. Informed that it would be available at 20:15. I arrived late (20:20) as I didn't know the area and had difficulty finding the place along with somewhere to park (see visitor/tourist information at the end).
Friendly person behind the counter said that they were just packing the order and it would be 5 minutes. Didn't get food until 20:45 so was quite peeved TBH. Did get free poppadoms and relish for the inconvenience but see below.
Food itself was good and reasonably priced with good portion sizes. Didn't have the free relishes as we were all put off by the lurid colour (neon green).
For visitors/tourists looking for the place. The establishment is on Fore Street (the high street) but you need to walk up the steps in a little underpass between the shops opposite Boots. The entrance is a small non-descript door immediately on the left hand side once you've gone up the steps. Through the door and more steps to climb to get to the restaurant itself.
There did seem to be a small road on the entrance side of the restaurant so it's possible that you could temporarily park to pick up, but I don't know and given my collection attempt, it may not be that short a stay.
For parking I found a Co-Op store (West Hill I think) about 6 minutes walk away that seemed free to park. The walk is up a fairly step road, so be warned - at least you'll burn a few calories...
