I came over to Brighton especially to try the fish and chips at No Catch and I am very disappointed for the restaurant not sticking to their opening timings. I was really looking forward to trying out this restaurant, especailly since I have been following Ed since the past few years. We got there on Saturday at 8.10 pm and the restaurant refused to let us even get food to go. Then today Sunday we tried to order at 6.22 pm and they were closed for delivery. When the restaurant shuts at 7pm. I find it frustrating when vegan restaurants have such limited opening hours. While I understand that they may have their reasons for doing so, it certainly does not make it easier for potential customers like myself to enjoy their cuisine, especially when we vegans have such límited options. Overall, while the food and atmosphere of the restaurant may be exceptional, its opening timings have certainly left me with a negative impression. I hope that the restaurant and Ed takes note of its customers' concerns and considers extending its opening hours to accommodate more diners and customers. I have given it a 5 star as it still is the best fish n chips, with a hope they improve their service.

The good - Came down from London to try the fish and chips and it was so worth it! The fish is made from soy protein, I think the skin is made from nori to give it the dark look and sea taste. However they've made it, they're spot on with the texture and taste! Didn't think I could have fish and chips again as a vegan. The food, staff, the place, everything was really lovely, except one thing. The not so good - I was disappointed by how much plastic and waste there was. My ketchup was in a plastic container with a plastic lid, I was given sachets of vinegar and salt. All these could've been added there and then without being in containers. Or at least, not in plastic. Or been given the option to whether or not I want salt and vinegar. I'm being pedantic now, but the cardboard box for the fish and chips was also huge. It was an unlucky mix up that I saw these because I wanted to dine in but was given takeaway boxes instead (staff were very nice about it!). It means I would definitely dine in again next time, it's a nice place to sit anyway! But would love to see the reduction in plastic.

This is the review for the non-vegans amongst you - as someone that eats mostly plant based but not exclusively I have tried many plant-based substitutes with varying levels of success. No Catch stands alone, far out ahead of most exclusively vegan restaurants. To the average omnivore, you'll be pleasantly surprised by their wide range of options, all with their own unique flavours and textures. We had the Smoked Haddock, chicken drumsticks and battered sausages. On the side we had the curry sauce and tartar, both delicious. The fish was flakey, perfectly crispy without being oily and placed on a bed of thick cut crispy chips. The drumsticks were coated well, nice and crunchy but also moist and chewy. The battered sausages were stand out - herby, crispy and juicy. Overall, No Catch is an outstanding choice for anyone looking for an ethically sourced fish and chips experience, regardless of your dietary choices. A special shout out to Kevin our waiter, who went above and beyond and made our experience feel very special. Highly recommended.

Great for vegans and celiacs We visited Brighton for the night and ate at no Catch for the first time and we're not disappointed!! The best vegan fish and chips we've EVER had. My partner had the cod and chips, my daughter the nuggets and chips and I had the battered gf sausage and chips. It's can be a real challenge being a vegan with celiacs disease when eating out, especially when I have an adversion to soy too. So when I spoke to the staff and they said there was an option for me I was over the moon. They said the gf food is prepared in a different area of the kitchen. I was absolutely fine with no gluten symptoms at all. Was so good I went back the next day. I cannot recommend it enough and will return when visiting again. The staff were really friendly, the food was fresh and didn't take ages to come out. Even my fussy daughter ate all her food. A massive thank you for making me feel included on the menu :) Even non vegans will enjoy the food it's delicious 😊

Finally got to try this and its even better than what they used to make at UNITY diner! (I know its same people but they have improved on what the already had with the tofish) The triple cooked chips (which come with the fish as standard) were the best chips we have EVER had. The tofish was incredible. Such great texture and the perfect amount of Nori to flavour and even a garnish of chives and dill - so so good! we got one regular and one gluten free. The gluten free one was impossible to tell apart from the regular. One word of advice - get the large because you will regret it otherwise. One of the best meals we've had in a long time and The guy behind the counter - Kevyn (according to our reciept ;-) was really nice too - very helpful and great service with a smile. The place was clean, staff were great, food was amazing. location right opposite the beach. What more could you want?

As an omnivore who eats fish semi-regularly (and has tried vegan fish and chips before in other places and found it forgettable), No Catch some of the nicest fish and chips I've had in a long time of ANY kind, despite having no fish in it! The chips were perfectly soft yet crunchy, the batter was crisp, the 'fish' flavour was delicious and it was texturally shockingly similar to fish (maybe slightly too slippy/flaky, but I would never in a million years guessed it was vegan without knowing). The texture of the vegan calamari was astoundingly realistic (less fresh seaside calamari and more rings on a buffet texture, but really really close to the real thing in consistency). The tartare sauce was spot on, mushy peas well seasoned, and they stock Irn Bru. Need I say more! I would wholeheartedly recommend No Catch to vegans and non-vegans alike.
